That´s the way Ronnie won the masters in 2007. Doherty was about to send him out, when he got a kick. LOL

An impressive win from Ricky Walden. It certainly wasn´t Mr. Nobodys he beat on his way to the victory. Beating the three most winning players is a briiliant effort. I didn´t believe in him yesterday or today, but he certainly let his cue do the talking.

Btw. hasn´t he won a few minor invitational tournaments during the years ? I think I´ve seen his name in smaller finals before. It´s a long waited breakthrough.

Well i'm glad Walden won and not someone like Murphy or Maguire. He looks like he has a bit of character at least. If Walden can win a tournament, then Mark King's time is now. The Grand Prix is King's for the taking

he's won sangsom 6 red in thailand and belgium open this year and played in the semi final of the paul hunter classic in germany, all not too long ago so he was well prepared for this 1. and indeed a well deserved victory

I managed to, I managed to resist the temptation to look at the final score, and patiently waited for the ES coverage. Even after the penultimate frame, which was almost the breaking point for me.

            Congratulation to Ricky.

But seriously, after everything we had come through during this tournament, would it be too much to show the trophy presentation? I know, I am rather naive, after all the events with no trophy showing ES has given us, but once... lol.
Robbo's potting is so good he doesn't need to bother with positional play like the rest of the players. He laughs in the face of those who spend hours on the practice table perfecting their cue ball control! ~ Forman

You didn't miss too much LONG and boring ceremony with an amazing number of people arond the table (not in the arena anymore though ).

I found it quite funny though when the interviewer said something like "we are sorry you lost..." to O'Sullivan I wonder if this is the general interview style in China or just due to their worshipping O'Sullivan

I was equally funny (in a way) that Ronnie apologised to his chinese fans for not winning and dropped his head. I'm sure he was very disapointed and he had tried his best, but still that's not something he would have said or done in UK. He had probably been advised to this ... cultures and habits are indeed different. I regularly read match reports from asian tournaments; their emphatic style is quite amusing in our eyes but this seems to be the way over there. They probably think our ways are dull.

About press ... I regularly read the RSS feeds; that's how I follow the snooker news. I'm nonplussed at the number of factually inacurate articles (clones of earc other obviously) like this one http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/2...6908-20778246/ . ROS never had a 8-6 lead in that match! Its only an example but it shows how trustable some media are.
                C'est comme cela qu'on écrit l'histoire ...

Thanks for the news and the picture Janie! Ricky's joy is nice to see.

And yes, I'm a Ronnie fan and was disapointed he lost but then Ricky was the best man on the day and it is his maiden ranker ... so all praise to him and I'm genuinly happy for him.

                    • Does anyone know if Ricky Walden has a nickname. "The Great Wal-den" on the picture is a funny one anyway and could be a fine one both regarding his height and where he won his first ranking tournament.

                        • yeah, great tournament, he had to suffer with Hendry, Robertson and Selby, but showed great knowledge coming back. And the final was really tense, we couldn't see clearly the winner until the 9-7 OMG!
I would had like Williams to get it, pitty he had to play the best O'sullivan in the tournament (that was probably the match of the tournament).
