In the final, ES reporter mentioned Ricky touched a red with his cue but did not nominate a foul as the ref did not notice it. The reporter said a player will always know touching a red with his cue and from experience I know its true. So what is your opinion. Is it unsportmanship? Dont know whether it has been discussed on the Shanghai masters discussion. If so, forget!

Great stuff, you are as fast as lightning!
He did feather the red lightly but watching it now I am pretty sure he did not notice it as it was such a miniscule contact. And the ref would not have spotted it either. Actually was a safety, not a pot and dont think the result would have been different when spotted. was the 3rd frame.
Things that can happen. Any blemish of unsportmanship out of the window!

Hi there. I am away with Ricky for the Grand Prix in Glasgow. So I have just shown him this thread and asked his opinion. He basically said that in his opinion it was not a foul. We have watched that clip 4 times and he said when the camera is up close look at the base of the red he is cueing over, it does not move, the shadow does not move. He admits he is cueing close extremely close to the red, but he is 10ft away on tip toes cueing over with the spider and extensions on. Set this up at the club and try it and see if you feel it by touch.
Ricky has said finally that if he even suspected it was a foul he would call it on himself but he didn't and also do not forget there was a referree watching.
