Actually, I am not so sure that it is true.

I have called fouls on players for touching a ball with their cue and they have seemed genuinely unaware of it; I have also been called myself for the same thing.

I know what I said and what not. And it's not my fault you misinterpreted smth, so I also find it pointless to continue this discussion with you.

So... that's it! Enough for me.

I cant believe a simple thread like this brings an upstir where none was intended. I heard the reporter on ES saying it just after the footage (which i did not see, just missed it) Jaguarf1 was so friendly to put up the video and its very hard to judge. Leeroy discussed it with Ricky and his answer was very clear to me. The camera was zoomed in and hard to see, let alone the ref could have seen it and Ricky did not notice distanced away with the spider. My opening thread was before I had seen the footage, questioned because of the remarks the reporter made. So, during explanation I made up my conclusion he is not quilty of anything. I wonder how some deal with matters in real life? Or you always come to a conclusion before dealing with the facts?

Ive played in same league as ricky for a while as he was growing up and had a few matches against him. if he of felt that he had fouled he would of been the first person to say he had, even if it had lost him the title.

Let me again stress the unfairness I strongly feel about suggesting a player, especially one which has worked very hard to finally earn some recognization, might have cheated, as no proof was suggested.

This comment was not targeted to anyone in particular.

We have had threads whereas Peter Ebdon was being called nasty and things like "everyone had a price" was mentioned with regard to his alleged match fixing while again no proof ever come off that can logically support such a statement. It appeared to me a double standard was applied when the same person came in to this thread saying how she thought Ricky Walden was completely innocent.

Some players especially the upcoming ones are working hard to build a professional image; some might be looking for sponsors. The comment/suggestion/implication on the forum can be viewed by anyone doing a search on the players' names, and can literally stay forever.

To ask if we thought he had actually touched a ball, in regard to what the reporter said, in my opinion, would have been more appropriate.

Therefore, I made the point that I felt it was pointless to ask if Ricky's behavior was unsportsman-like, when we did not really have any proof he did foul in the first place.

I think it is wonderful that Ricky's side of the story was heard, because it seemed to me the original post was biased against Ricky Walden but that was changed afterward, which was a good thing. PTS did mention he thought Ricky did feather the red, but not knew it, then later he said he was totally convinced Ricky is not guilty of any cheating. That kind of confused me on what he actually thought happened, but that is beside the point.

I do agree Paul that we should not jump to any conclusion before gathering the facts--that is the very reason why I said what I said in the first place. It was not meant to attack you in anyway. I have always like your posts, and I was writing more out of concern for the reputation of the player being unintentionally affected when implications were made without the "facts."

PS: To the other person who can "scent" Chinese meaning from watching Chinese video, all I can say is they have one person like you in every village.

This person being me and this comment obviously directed at me I think I have some "droit de réponse". I thought I had explained clearly enough that what made me react was the certainty expressed by so many on this board - most if not all not knowing him in fact - that Ebdon would never do such thing because of his high ethical standard.
              1. Everyone has a price, including me. We are all vulnerable to certain pressures. That's a general statement and a fact of life and not accepting it is naïvety at best.
              2. Ebdon's behaviour in certain circumstances had been in my eyes absolutely unethical. Therefore I - Monique - don't rate his ethics at all. On that I certainly haven't changed my mind and never will.
              3. I did state clearly that I didn't believe that Ebdon had fixed this particular match...

Now ... am I the only one to read snooker scene?

As for Ricky Walden indeed nothing in his past behaviour raised any suspicion of unsportmanship ever, on the contrary. So ...

I don't think he realised and by the way they were playing the match wouldn't have changed.

                  Hi,

                  In sequence,

                  1. I put this thread before I had watched it. Based on comments by the ES team.
                  2. After my message footage was uploaded on here.
                  3. I then could see the footage and saw a miniscule movement, but it was zoomed in, Ricky was quite distant with the spider and was of the opinion he might not have realized it.
                  4. Question was answered here leeroy
                  5. Came to a conclusion.

Think the matter is closed now for me, no hard feelings, still all good friends!

in my opinion, the red did move. (zoom in and by judging the edge of the red, u will see it)
but i believe ricky won't be able to feel such a tiny contact with his extended cue.
also, u can't expect the referee to judge tht with his bare eyes.

Well in my opinion he did it again today. He was trying to cut a red in against Graeme Dott. The white was so close that it was impossible not to push it but he never owned up to it and Chamberlain to my amazement never gave it. You could hear it was pushed.

its more of the referees fault than of the player

I agree with the Statman, especially after the shot I have sometimes been so focussed on the pot and the white ball, that I haven´t noticed touching the colour before it´s called.
