It don't matter what format they come up with, as long as these idiots attend and shout while a player is on the shot it won't work. I bet a lot of the players don't like this kind of event but won't say anything for fear of rocking the boat.
People try to compare the crowd to a darts crowd, don't make me laugh, a darts crowd have much more class. At least they respect the player when he about to throw the dart. This kind of crowd and event cheapens snooker and turns it into a pub game. The compare was quick to point out that losing players got an easy £500 for turning up don't make me laugh, when you take their travel and accomadation cost into account it hardly makes it worth the trip.

It was brilliant and the crowd were great. The problem with power snooker was that it was too complicated and the fans although loud were basically shouting for the sake of it.
This one was perfect. Simple rules, great snooker and the atmosphere was terrific. I don't see what anyone did wrong.
A few prehistoric dinosaurs won't like it, but there's a reason why snooker is at a low point right now. It's a casual tournament. Arrive, player, leave. There's a reason why darts is so fun - crowd interaction. Singing a players name, shouting "come on", reacting to a pot or a miss - it was perfectly fine. They were better than at the power snooker as you can tell they actually got emotionally involved.
I'd love it if we had a few more tournaments like this. The "traditionalists" are killing snooker. You NEED tournaments that are attractive to the casual and a different viewing esperience. I'd like it if there were 3 tournaments like this a year. 2 one-frame shootout's and one best of 3 shootout with the top 32.
Everyone who I've spoken to likes it, and I know atleast 8 people who stopped watching snooker several years ago, and they loved it.
This is 3 days in the entire calander. Move on with the times. People want to see drama, atmosphere and entertainement. Silence with a "COME ON RONNIE!" chant every few minutes is not a "great atmosphere" anymore. It's the least you should expect.

Overall, it wasn't as bas as I thought. Definitely much better than Power Snooker.
Not something I'd like to see in every tournament, but once a year - pretty much ok.Winner of crucible77's 2008 World Championship Fantasy Snooker Game

And even though audience set the tone high when shouting, it wasn't close to
match the reaction someone popular like Ronnie receives..
As I said yesterday, darts effect wasn't there. No interaction between players and the spectators, instead, just a few drunk people shouting was my first impression.
But I still don't want to call for the head of something taking baby steps, especially if players would like to get involved in an event with a similar format. All the way Mark J!!

I have a little rule query about an incident that happened last night between Steve Davis and Peter Ebdon. Towards the end of the frame Steve played a red sending it round the table, Peter rushed to the table and struck the cueball at the red before the red had stopped moving from Steves shot. Eirian Williams called foul, picked the white up and gave it to Steve, why??
I thought that would have been 'ball moved by other than striker' and the balls would have had to be re-placed where the ref thought they would have finished and Peter play again. How can it be a foul when the previous shot hadn't finished?
