  • Wow! Didn't see that result coming. This morning, I had Lee down as close to a certainty to win the way he's been playing.

Mags obviously has been boosted by his ever-so-close win over Ronnie.

    • Is anyone from TSF actually there at the tournament?
Is the noise of people moving around, doors banging, etc, really that load or is it the TV mikes making them sound louder?
      cheers :snooker:
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

          • Wow, some weird reaction to show his frustration there, Ding.. He then missed the blue and lost the frame from there.
I wonder if he will be able to bounce back.
            All the way Mark J!!

            • I can't believe the pink Ebdon just played! The pot was extremely tough, but to actually get close to the black from there... Shot of the week!

              • Ding is struggling for every positional shot now. How did he miss getting the right side of the blue off the brown?

Ebdon is squeezing the life out of him atm.

                    • Well done, The Force. A deserved victory, that's for sure. And if he got some sort of luck with the pack split, who knows, he could have pushed for a maximum from there on.
He played a lot better than he did against Robertson, by the way. Not quite ton after ton mode, but he was solid amongst the balls.

                        • Well done Ebdon

his performance (best in this season i think) today sums up why amongst the grinding types of players, i admire him most.
he's able of keep players at bay, and at his best, can still pot balls when in amongst them.
as a self discipline, he's able to focus at winning the frame, and forgo personal pride and ego by not playing to make massive breaks. thereby making the right calls to not go for all the shots.
his patience has earned him this win.

Yes, very well played. I must admit I am quite surprised, as I thought all of the signs pointed to Ding before the match. He seemed stronger throughout the week, has a good record against Ebdon, and after all, he is the much higher ranked player.

But Ebdon played a brilliant match, completely broke Dings rhythm at 3-1 down. I think that scoring chance Ding had to go 4-1, with most of the reds beyond the blue spot, and he only made 14 points, that was probably the turning point. All of his breakbuilding brilliance disappeared from then on, while Ebdon proved he is still a master of "fragmented snooker".

This should be a great final!

6 minutes to midnight it finished, so the curse continues. It probably would have gone beyond 1am local time for a 6-5 scoreline, but of course it had to finish 6-3.
