Ali Carter may well not turn up. He's fast becoming somebody who threatens retirement every two minutes as well. I don't think he loves the game, and his health is a problem also. I hope he does, for the purely selfish reason of me being a Dale fan, and Dale barely wins matches at the moment.

I hope he keeps withdrawing, because it adds fuel to the "128 flat draw" argument. O'Sullivans withdrawals create holes in the draw, and gift ranking points to players (Marcus Campbell will be gifted 700 points for the 2nd event in a row if O'Sullivan withdraws).

The thing is, nobody would bat an eyelid if he withdrew before the draw was made, but it's stretching credibility the way he consistently leaves it till the last minute. The only condition he suffers from is attention seeking syndrome.

Yeah, I agree. Pulling out last minute through illness could be deemed unfortunate if it happens to you once. Maybe twice your whole career. But every season is stretching it. There's no way that a human who isn't suffering from a long-term physical illness would have to pull out as often at short notice as Ronnie.

And lets just assume he was too ill to play in the World Open. Let's give him that benefit of the doubt. It doesn't excuse the many other times it's happened.
