  • why is Ronnie still bookies fav?

I was wondering what other people think about still always being the bookies favourite for almost every tournament.

I think he has a good chance in most, more so at the Masters than elsewhere but before xmas he played rubbish and virtually gave Bingham the match.

He doesn't seem to be up to speed with the other players as he's not been in the ptc because he has his kids at the weekend, which I totally understand being a single dad myself.

He is also down to ninth and if he has a bad second half of the season i wonder if it is possible for him to drop out of the top 16, if so I cannot see him going to the qualifiers. What would happen then, he is one snookers main stars and I love to watch him play when he is in the mood and would hate to see him stop playing but i have a bad feeling about the situation.

Anyway i can see Mark giving him a tough time this week as he has beaten him before and he isn't scared of playing anyone.

I would therefore put Ronnie about 3rd or 4th to win this year but having said that I would love a third final between him and Selby and for Ronnie to get revenge for the slow play tactics of last year but again he did give up at the end.

So good luck Ronnie and I hope the second half of the season turns around from this week.

Presumably this is because they take most money on Ronnie to win.
Oh, and that's a bad miss.

You only have to look at the sheer consistency of how well O'Sullivan has performed in this prestigious event over the years to see why he is the favourite..

Because he is the best player in the world.

(John Higgins claimers should take a break, before crashing my argument to pieces.)

firstly he is not the best in the world and secondly in answer to the question ask bookies don't care its purely on how much money is placed!

Firstly, ten minutes is good to go, so, thanks for reading into the parenthesis

Secondly, I know the whole thing about betting system. But still I love to speculate about his greatness, anyway..

And independent from your message, I wouldn't put a single penny to a bet against Ronnie, until he hangs up his cue

Well, the bookies "predictions" are always going to be slightly distorted here, because O'Sullivan has such a large fan base. But still, the guy reached six of the last seven finals and always seems to bring his best to this tournament. I think he has a better chance than anyone, apart from maybe Selby.

As for him being the favourite for the WC, for example, I have to agree with cebs' point. I think at least Higgins and Robertson have a strong case for being above him at the moment.

I never had a claim to be a good better, though!

And Odrl, I agree with your argument. I would probably say Higgins is my favorite for WC, but The Masters is where Ronnie plays like he's home and it just works for him. So, I expect him to win it, again, although there's a possibility that he will fail to show up for this event, as well.

Ronnie is probably my third favourite behind Higgins and Williams. It is his number one venue by far and he seems to thrive on the pressure in the arena. But after seeing what happend to him in Telford and with his father being back and possibly attending his matches it will be interesting to see how he plays against Allen.

I never like to put a bet on ronnie till i see what frame of mind he is in.
I realise bookies make money when more people bet on a fav who then doesn't win but i don't know why joe public agree ronnie is fav all the time.
I think a robertson / higgins or williams final is likely and that's my bet for this week with a long shot on allen.

I gotta Agree with some Replies and Disagree with Others.

If I ever wanna Flutter on Ronnie I also see what Frame of Mind he is in on the Day, As every Day Ronnie can be Different and Problem with that is you don't get any odds Really Unless a few of your Friends are Supporting the other Guy.

I gotta say althou it Hurts me to Say this....Ronnie is the Most Gifted Player in the World, And when his Head is Right......

Ronnie is the Best Player in the World No Doubt about it.

Yes the Bookies do Take alot of Money on Him but I have a few Friends who are Bookies Managers and I can assure you it ISN'T JUST THE MONEY BEING PUT ON HIM.

Why do you Think The Bookies Make him Fav Every Tourny as they Know if he Takes his A GAME to Table he will WIN 8/10 Times and they dont wanna take that Chance.

                              C'mon Mark Williams..........
