Great stuff from King, first player to beat Selby in a best-of-11 at the Masters. I suppose I thought King could only win if Selby was out of sorts, but he proved me wrong.

Selby's celebrating at the end of frame 2 was what spurred King on. It gave him ''the hump'' apparently.

Refreshing to see King show the form he can produce when he puts his mind to it. Selby looked a little out of sorts throughout the match it has to be said. Good match and a good start to what will hopefully be another exciting Masters..

Because it was harder to get position on a colour. He actually had a fine position for the colours He blew two frames in a row, that he should have won, and that made the difference.

Several people were tipping Mark Selby to win again, but I just couldnt see it and I didn't bet on him (my Skybet account and my article can prove this!). I couldn't imagine him taking a second consecutive Masters title especially with the players getting so much more match practice in the PTC events. I still favour Williams or Higgins to win with Ronnie and Robertson close behind.

Well played King, beating Selby comfortably is impressive normally but to do it from 2-0 down makes it even better.You get the feeling Selby treated the game as a banker in the first round, given his record, and in the event he got found out.

Mark King said he did not like Selby's attitude when he cleared the colours with King in front and it gave him the "hump". Apparently he waived his cue as if to say "up yours" (my words, not King's).

Afraid in the old days it would have done the same to me and would have made the adrenalin flow.

I am sure Selby didn't mean anything by it, but it gave King the incentive which ultimately worked in King's favour..

It was very impressive, indeed! This was by far the best I've seen King play in years and his scoring was very consistent whenever he got the chance :snooker:
