Sky don't get any licence fee money, so the licence payers DON"T fund Sky. And Mr.Murdoch doesn't own Sky - yet.

They did the same with the Darts, and they've done it before with F1 qualifying on the Saturday although never the actual race. And they do it every year with the Open Golf Championship, the early part of the rounds are never covered Live, even on the Sat and Sun.

Yes but our money is used to create and pay for a service which is vital to SKY's survival. Like I say, without the BBC content, sky wouldn't have half the subscribers it does.

Sky does a pretty decent job of creating their own content.

Agreed. But without the BBC channels their numbers would dwindle, and how would their finances fair then? Pretty poorly I think.

We can't prove or disprove opinions. You are more than entitled to yours as I am to mines which differs from yours. I believe Sky would be fine with or without the BBC channels.

The fact remains that the BBC continually do not show sports they cover Live, which in my view is shocking and makes the licence fee that I have to pay to avoid jail very poor value for money.

just pick up a cheap sky box and dish, fairly easy to set up and you get all the red button service in full. There are always ways around if you can be bothered!

Oh and most of you could watch it online as well but I guess that means you won't have anything to moan about.

Absolutely no offence taken m8, nor none intended by me.

I can't believe the red button coverage isn't available on Freeview. I have no idea why it's the case.

I take it Eurosport isn't part of the Freeview package?

But what about those that don't have access to online services? Do we just say 'oh sod the poor and the elderly, who cares about them anyway'

                        Nah, it's scrambled.

Very dismissive point of view. As PatBlock says, what about those who do not have internet. I know most of us take it for granted, but there is still a whole generation out there who don't get it. Oh, and they watch a lot of snooker! Think on.
Oh, and that's a bad miss.

                            Good points.

There should also be more people exempt from the licence fee. Pensioners at the moment need to reach 75 years of age before they get it free. It should be 65. And blind people still have to pay 50% of the fee. They should get it free as well. Other people who are unable to work due to permanent disabilities or mental illness should also get it free but they only get discounts if they live in sheltered housing.

And the BBC should be legally obliged to ensure that their coverage is the same on all digital platforms i.e. Sky, BT, Virgin, & Freeview.
