    strange in the fact theres only been 6 centurys and one by the worst break builder in the top 16

    Mark King 20 year professional centurys in the mid 60s thats about 3 a year quite a pathetic break builder in this day and age

    Ronnies had 10 times the centurys and turned pro a year later in the golden generation (Williams/Higgins/O'Sullivan)

          it does appear somewhat slightly fishy that all the top players are out, because they didnt play very well...they were all off there game at the same time....

          one may even believe that because there are no ranking points for this event that they possibly just didnt try as hard/dont care?

          i didnt just say that did i?
          what a frustrating, yet addictive game this is....

            I agree with Above........

            None of the Top Players seemed Fussed at all Not Even Shaun Murphy about Winning??

            I don't need to explain myself to you.... wildJONESEYE.....As it is Obvious Why!

            All Top Players / Favs are All Out in ROUND ONE??

            I have never seen So Many Top 8 or Top 16 Players Lose 1st Round.....And the Way they all Lost Baffled me!!

              BIG DEAL.

              the matches has been close matches

              1 = 6-5
              5 = 6-4
              2 = 6-3

              the closeness of Matches is what Makes a tournament not Having Top Players win 6-1 with 3 centuries.

                    Saying the big names aren't bothered is way off the mark. Look at the money involved and tell me who wouldn't want to go further and further in the tournament?

                    As has been said, the gap between top and bottom has been closed, partly due to the stars losing some of their lustre, partly because those ranked 10-20 have had much more table time in tournament play and are benefitting (in my opinion)

                    Why is a tournament bad because the big names lose? Just doesn't add up that either.

                      I think there has been some good snooker this week. The pockets seem a little tighter than usual and not so many balls have been giving themselves up and the table has mainly been playing quite well.

                      Why do some of you think that making centuries is the be all of the game?

                      No player can be at his best all the time and surely they are also there for the money, not just points.

                        So far I donĀ“t think the standard has been on the same level as the last two years, where most of the players has performed extremely well. Most of the seeded players had disappointed compared to what could be expected from them.

                        But at the same time I find it refreshing with surprises and to see some new faces in the business end of a tournament, and there has been many close matches, which to me is better than centuries. Frame of the tournament for me so far was the finishing frame between Carter and Ebdon. Ebdon kept Carter in a tight grip all the way and potted some good pressure pots when needed.

                          Sure they try.... But 5-2 down with no ranking points available, they won't try as hard.
