Booked into the same hotel for the entire week(everyone else wanted too much money!), but I never get up in time for breakfast, so feel free to eat twice

      I may just do that.

Just got back from my stay. The size of the room was better than I thought after what you said. The first year I stayed in Newport, I had smaller.

The rest of the hotel sucked though. Their card machine didn't work when I got there, so they asked if I had £100 in cash when I got there. I didn't. They then put me in the wrong room, and had to move me. The shower didn't work. The breakfast wasn't anything to write home about....

Other than that, enjoyed my trip. I did think about going back for the Thursday afternoon match. But I didn't get a ticket.

Well Ive been here since Monday night and am about to find out if the shower works, I never eat breakfast and I don;t blame them for the card machine - these things happen! But yeah, I'm in a better room this time and I'll stay here again in the future as it;s very cheap and does the job perfectly well.

As for the Ally Pally itself, what an excellent venue it is - so much cosier than the cavernous, sterile Wembley Arena. Food and drink are a little pricey though - £3.50 for a sausage roll? Do me a lemon.

That's the same in a lot of sports venues. But I tell you what, when Ding and Ronnie were playing there were a lot more people than there were toilet space.

Did you see the sign in the lobby saying that the hotel took a firm stance against human trafficking?

              What the hell?

Daft really isn't it? When did you last see a sign that said "we're against human trafficking but frankly we're not obsessive about it"?

Had a great day there on Monday. Discounted all day ticket, cheap trains, weatherspoons meal... cost £31 + booze!

Haven't a clue what it'd be like to find a hotel anywhere near tho? Not that easy I shouldn't think.

It depends what you mean by nearby. Mine was five minutes by cab, but I paid between £5.50 and £7 for a cab to get back to my hotel. If you want a hotel right next door to the venue, which I suspect most do, then you'd be a bit knackered.

                        "This hotel supports human trafficking."

It just seemed an odd thing for a hotel to give an opinion on.

The hotel I'm in is a little over a half mile walk through the Alexandra Park - drops you right into Muswell Hill Broadway, and Queens Avenue connects to the broadway and is lined with hotels either side. The hotel I'm in seems largely deserted as well...

I notice the BBC hasn't asked the players. A bit like short matches, they just assume everybody will think it's an improvement.
