You do, don't you? They are always there watching his matches. At The Crucible they'd got almost box seats, so they looked like an evil empire watching over events. The BBC were quick to big up their support. A close family, always there, always supportive. But you wonder the truth. I'm not suggesting for a second they are those pushy parents that drill into him success at all costs. Nor am I suggesting that they are enjoying his reflected glory. I've never spoke to them, never met them. It would be unfair to make such statements.

But if I went round with a cocky attitude, my parents wouldn't let the fact that I'm 31 stop them giving a dressing down about it.

Judd Trump is the best thing to happen snooker for a decade or more, try enjoying his snooker instead of slaggin him off over stupid little things.
I dont judge someone until i,ve spent enough time in their company to pass judgement on them , i just cant take to people that are full of themselves whether they are world champion or local club champion . They are not my cup of tea and i have never been friendly with anyone with that kind of attitude .

Jesus Christ, you need to get over this BIG time, Judd's mates were supporting him, since when was that not allowed?! Last night, I'm sure one of Shaun Murphy's pals was shouting out just about every time he got a fluke, had a chance, or when Neil missed... so just stop berating Judd Trump, he's a great talent who will be around for the next 30 years, and doing so, becoming a multiple time World Champion so if you can't deal with him, then snooker of the future is not for you.
Billiards is very similar to snooker.... except there are only 3 balls and no body watches it. :snooker:

I love the way Judd plays the game, and I like watching him, probably more than anyone at the minute. BUT - am I the only one to think he comes across as a bit dim and (dare I say it?) dull? He wants this image as a modern sportsmen, a sharp shooter and slick brand - but he sounds like a yokel. And pronounce your words properly son! It's "think", not "fink"! He seems uncomfortable when being interviewed, and doesn't really say anything of interest.

Well, apart from Mark Selby, who is as interesting as a table.

Ah the lad is still very young *and* part of the "nufink" generation...as clearly apparent in his tweets and definately the tweets of his mates / hangers-on...

Giving interviews I'm guessing is a particular skill and somethink (couldn't resist) one learns and becomes more adept in over time...

True, he is quite young, i guess i was a bit of a **** when i was 22! Hopefully this tournament will be a bit of a wake up that he isn't invincible - both on and off the table. He tries a bit too hard to be "it".

Agree on the arrogance bit. He seems to have it more than even Ronnie or Hendry had in their younger years. They had a more healthy kind of arrogance though it seems. Trump's seems more influenced by today's fast&furious dog-eat-dog twitter-world...too bad. Hopefully he will grow up quickly and focus on his snooker instead. He really needs a coach/mentor!

In Judd's defence, on this occasion it was his friend that was acting like a bell-end not him. Not sure Judd seemed in any way embarrassed by it though.

I agree. He seems to want a personality that he doesn't have. He's a shy boy, still close to his parents. Nothing wrong with that, of course. But his twitter rants seem to suggest he wants everybody to think he's some rock star type.

I think he's one of those people who has their self-worth tied up in what other people think about him. So has no confidence in himself when not being told how great he is. That's why some think of him as arrogant, I think. Because he always has to be showing off and revelling in the attention. If anything, arrogance tends to spring from underconfidence, not overconfidence.

It is no doubt very difficult to be a 22 year old with the world at your feet. You cant just drop your old mates when you come into money. He's young and is enjoying it. Im sure he will be the player everyone wants him to be give it a few years.

In fairness he's a choir boy when compared tot he likes of Jimmy White as his age. H's not turning up ****ed for starters!

Cant wait to see a twitpic of him in his waistcoat rowing with his cue in the bath of some hotel!!!

I actually laughed out loud at this one!!

1st things first. Mates are mates. I'm sure we all have mates that may embarrass us at times, but they were there before he was famous, and (more than likely) will be there when the fame has passed. I've got a mate that watched me win a competion a long time ago, who (at first) was shouting out a bit like Judd's mates, cheering for the opponent to go in-off etc. I explained to him this was not the way it was done, and he stopped. (his response was something like - I'm hear to support you (and drink loads of beer), so I want to see you win. If he goes in-off, you're a bit closer to winning, and we can go celebrate properly!) He didn't watch snooker at the time, so didn't get the way it was played in a sporting manner, but now watches every tournament he can. He was my mate though, and came to cheer me on, even though he knew nothing about the game. Thats what mates do. A quick little word in their ear from Judd would stop it all. If not, the WPBSA can just ban them all, I don't care which

Now, I do like watching Judd, I think he's a real talent, but..... He is getting too big for his boots at the moment. He showed a complete lack of Neil Robertson (of what I saw of the match). He seemed to have an attitude of "whatever you try, I'm just going to blast balls in left, right, and centre, and pot you off the table". Problem was, this failed, and he didn't have a plan B for when it started going wrong. We saw at the UK he has a good safety game, but he didn't seem to think about safety shots this time. Just pot pot pot. Why he likes to whack the frame ball in beats me. It always seems that he does it to let the opponent know that is the ball that beat you.

Also, his penchant for playing "exhibition shots" before the frame is well wrapped up is a bit daft. The boy must know the angles well enough, but instead of playing a shot with side on and of one cushion to run down for the next ball, he'd rather play it with tons of screw back and side to finish in roughly the same place having gone of 3 cushions. When the frame is well won, by all means do it. but not if you're 40 or 50 ahead with 6 or 7 reds on. If he reins in his show-off side, he could put himself in the best players of all time lists by when he retires. If not, he'll end up another ultra talented underachiever, a la Alex, Jimmy, and Ronnie.
If you want to play the pink, but you're hampered by the red, you could always try to play the brown!

The obsession with naughty snooker is getting a bit annoying as well.

Have to agree with these posts - all seems like a storm in a tea-cup to me. Judd certainly didn't do anything wrong, and if a couple of people in the crowd get a bit boisterous, it's for the referee to sort out - hardly the first time it's happened, particularly at the Masters. Cheering flukes and in-offs happens in every single match - it's not a crime. I also don't see being on Twitter as a problem, as I'm sure most 22 year olds are, and I've yet to see him put anything offensive on there. If anything, I thought Robbo's response and interview afterwards were a bit childish. Trump has been fantastic for the game for the past 18 months or so and long may it continue.
