On the subject of Hann, he is currently 34 years old and 2 years from the end of his ban.

I wonder if he'll ever try and come back? Would World Snooker take him back or try and block it?

Only reason I mention it is that he won over £400k in prize money from Snooker and was a top 16 player for a time, so he might still fancy it when his ban is up. He clearly had a talent for the game, if not the temperament.

I liked Hann, he was fool to his Snooker career, and he didn’t respect anyone he played as evidenced by his unusual break off shot  But he showed respect to other players.


His opinion was that if one went in, he could clear up, he too was young and foolish, I don’t think he is off the tour because he was no good, I think his decision to stop attending would have been a logistical one.


It’s all very well slagging these guys off, but if it wasn’t for the likes of Alex – Jimmy – Hann – Ronnie – Trump – Drago and even to an extent Mark Allen, the snooker world would be full of robots.


As good a Davis was in the 80’s Hendry in the 90’s and now Higgins / Selby, I never liked to watch them, without a doubt the best players of their time, but then so was Rex and Eddie and Reardon, I wonder if the game would still be alive if it wasn’t for the flamboyant players that are like marmite ????

Definately a difference in opinion, that's clear. I don't like the showing-off type of players, unless it's the very last couple of shots and the frame is in the bag already. My preference is tactical matches, and eb&flow of play...particularly longer matches I'm fond of. Shorter matches and quick-fire ones don't do it for me at all. Snooker should stay as it was before in terms of length of matches. Anyway...I'm starting to ramble again, someone stop me please!

Problem nowadays is social media. There is so much publicity, everything is scrutinised ten fold. Trump's mates are obviously fanny's, hanging on to his coat tails for an easy life and need to grow up a bit. However, i don't think Trump has done too much wrong. It's just that everyone can pick up on what's going on these days.

Not sure about the lack of table tapping. Never really taken notice. If it is true, maybe someone should just have a quiet word.

Yes, one based on the notoriously difficult logistics of being banned from the sport.

I remember the trial / 's and I remember the fight thing, but I forgot about the ban, I just had to read up on it.

8 years is a bit strong when you consider that J higgins got 6 months, and Jon Wright was banned for 2 years for upsetting the head of the WPBSA.

As you say, another 2 years and Hann "can" come back.

I wonder if Hann spoke to Hearn he will amend the ban and let him in now ?

I wouldn't be the worse thing that could happen, especially for the game as he was a character.

I do like watching Judd and overall think he's great for the game

Can see both sides of things

If you have seen the reality show from a few years ago 'Life of Ryan' about Ryan Schekler, the superstar skateboarder at age 18, same deal, he had his mates who were always around and he wanted to give them the 'rockstar' lifestyle as he put it. No fun on your own partying, womanising etc. The problem becomes these mates will do anything to keep their new lifestyle going and obviously the central cash and fame cow, in this case being Judd is key to the whole thing. If heaven bid, Judd gets hit by a bus tommorrow, they go back to doing what they did before, frack all. So from their point a view, a bit of aggressive cheering bordering on gamesmanship is no big deal to achieve their objective.

On the flip side, there is definitely a bit of "Kournikova" syndrome from the other players. Anna Kournikova was always on centre court when she played and could have been ranked 24 whereas the number 3 player could be playing on an outside court. Same deal here, other snooker players have achieved way more than Judd, Neil being one of them, but are getting a fraction of the attention. This is obviously going to lead to a tiny bit of resentment.

I think after this tournament, Judd is going to be hunted by the other players, they will get up for any match with him.

Even if Judd turns into a total arrogant ar*sehole, i still think that is good for the game, it is good to have a villian to stir up emotions from people.

Grudge matches in any sport sell tickets.

I dont think Hahn will come back to snooker. If he was keen, he could have been playing 9ball all these years and doing well.

Remember, when Quinten Hann was accused of wrongdoing he said; "F*** Snooker" told World Snoker to f*** off. Hardly the actions of somebody who is desperate to play.

Who knows? But at the same time, I can't see he was the sort of person who has spent six years putting the practice in. But we'll find out, won't we?

Trump's comments are very disappointing...but unfortunately not surprising. His down-to-Earth attitude is long gone and I'm glad robbo taught him a bit about how to behave around a snooker table.
