  • Lowest score – a record

The eighth frame of Doherty v. Hawkins resulted 34-47.

The previous lowest score by a frame winner – in a black-ball game – was the 38-37 scoreline between Reynolds and Wych at the Crucible in about 1989.

Thus, if Hawkins had cleared pink and black in the first place, it would have been 34-41 (Doherty went in-off the pink to provide the extra 6 points), and thus this would have been the lowest-scoring black-ball game, I would imagine.

As it is, it does mean that Ken Doherty's 34 points is the lowest ever score by one player in a frame that went right down to the final black.

I saw this frame and did think at the time that it must be pretty close to being the lowest score ever in a black ball frame. Thanks for the info, Statman.
