    • Williams definately has a mental problem with ROS. On twitter he even admitted recently that Ronnie is the only player he dreads facing.

It would be a huge match for ROS if Trump get's through. He's lost to him him 3 times in a row I think (PTC final, UK and Masters).

Really hoping he does this time, he deserves it! Too bad Mark J is out of it now...

          Great post

Ten years is as long time not to beat someone especially as Mark took so much longer to come through than higgins and ROS who of course turned professional the same year if you look at that its a wonder he has 7 victories against him

It has been a while since Matthew won a big match, leaving aside his recent victory against flu-ridden Robertson.
Nice player though, I'm very much a fan of his fluent game play.
                All the way Mark J!!

It's funny that even with "so much longer", he has only waited until he is 21 to win his first ranking event title.
Tells about the crazy standard those three set about twenty years ago.

And I totally agree with the posts above. There is a certain psychological edge Ronnie holds over Mark J at the moment. He wasn't far away to overcome that in that WC last 16 (13-10), or that Masters semi (6-5), and for me, played good snooker against him every time they clashed.
Actually, he wasn't bad today, either. He just seems to be unable to put the things together againt Ronnie.

Will be interesting if Trump comes through now. Especially after the weird comments Judd threw at Ron.

I know exactly where you're coming from daffie. I like a big break as much as anyone, but there's nothing like watching the drama and skill of a closely fought quality tactical exchange IMO, and the ideal match for me contains a good proportion of both, but if I had to choose between 17 frames of one visit clear-ups or 17 close frames with quality tactical play, I'd go with the latter, hands down.

                    • I went with my mate to see Ronnie vs Ding at The Masters this year, because he wanted to go. I am going to see Ronnie vs Jimmy in a few month in an exhibition at the end of my road.

Now I'm going to the Welsh Open end stages. Am I going to see anybody who isn't Ronnie this year, ffs.

                        • Ronnie O'Sullivan took two years to make the top 16 John Higgins 3 Williams took about 5 or 6

You're in rather sweary form today snookerfan, or have you just get your forums mixed up?

I would rather see some one visit stuff mixed with drama, which is usually the outcome of an high-quality encounter.
17 frames filled with tactical play would get boring after a moment. The reason fans love to see those is the drama they include and if more than a couple of frames were going in that context, it would just be repetitive.
Not that I love to see smashing of the cue ball into the pack from shot one, however.
