Personally I don't see Hendry winning against Higgins, regardless of how they played today.
That said, he'd like to play a lot better than he did to boost his chances of winning it all.

Fantastic match, unlucky Liang, Higgins made of a special kind of steel, seen very few like him in terms of finding a way to win! Standing ovation for Higgins, the more pressure is on, the more he responds!

Couldn´t have said it better. He has made so many of these pressure breaks during the years. In that department of the game he´s the best of them all.

Liang had the match in his hands when Higgins missed on 41? but screwed up position and cannoned a red awkward,its not all down to the Stan Laurel's luck.

Good q,don't know about the whole day but Trump Robertson last year probably matched this for quality,but this was prob at least as tense.

2005 first day was quite good with Maguire leading O'Sullivan 9-7 and 54-37 when he missed a black and O'Sullivan won the the frame and the next two to win 10-9.

A 147, a final frame decider with twists and turns and 3 centuries in a row. And that in three different matches. Isn´t seen much better on any first day I would say.

It certainly was a great day of snooker. We need 16 more like that.

A decider in the evening session, and still no midnight finish. But I can't complain, it was good entertainment throughout. I'm sure Higgins will only get better now that he's survived the 1st round. He could have easily gone out though, because it was in Liang's hands at one point.

Good stuff from Cao as well to lead Allen 5-4 overnight. But I'm sure Allen will be quite relieved, it wasn't looking good at all at 5-2.
