Some good solid match play from Maguire.....

How unlucky was Brecel to cannon the blue in with the yellow and leave the free ball?? but he'll was a bit gutted he never had a crack at the brown on the the shot were he had a free ball!!

Unlucky but I can't really have too much sympathy for him because like many young players his shot selection lets him down too much. Maguire will tie him up in knots and already has him sussed. Also he is really struggling with the pace of the table and the tightness of the pockets which seem quite nippy this year. The longer this cloth stays on the table the tighter it will play.

Luca is talented but he is trying to become a Judd Trump too soon. Trump has to labor for years to get there and the moment he started his antics, had his ass kicked big time. Luca will do well to not try and emulate O'Sullivan because he is on a different planet. HE just needs to make the most of what he has. just my view at least.

At last, a frame for Luca. Thought he'd messed it up again, but pulled out a cracking recovery pot. Lets hope he gets a few more now he's broken his duck, so we can have a match to watch.

I agree. Seems like he has a good safety game already at his young age. He just needs to take a bit more time with some shots. But having said that, this is all very new to him and he still needs to get a feel for the setting as well as the speed of the table.

At least he is a young & upcoming player that I can enjoy watching...and he has a smile on his face at times as well...compared to Trump who I really don't care for much.

I disagree ... John Higgins on his D game would beat Luca about 10-4. It aint all about potting. You got to play teh right shot and his shot selection and matchplay is pretty ordinary. Very talented potter though. To be honest Cao Yupeng is better but then again I am neither British nor Chinese so I am less biased

He is 17 years old!!! Give the lad a break...he still has some years ahead of him before he has the allround game that you mention Higgins has. There is no way you can compare Luca with Higgins at this point in time...you are just dead wrong there.

On to the match...Luca going for the plant and hitting it so darn hard it didn't even had a small chance of dropping. He needs to take more time, compose himself, and not take on too many long-odds shots (like Trump does). Experience is the keyword here...

funnily enough Maguire is missing sitters but Luca cannot take advantage... Kinda sad to see because he played so much better through the qualifiers
