Ultimately, it's the referee's job to call fouls.
Exactly how I feel about it too.

Given how strongly Allen feels about it (not to mention his eagle-eyed vision), could he have questioned the referee at the time? Would *interrupting* an opponent's break be considered to be unsportsmanlike conduct? Again, am not saying he should have done, it's just an interesting situation that doesn't crop up that often...

    • Yeah a player is there to play, a ref is there to ref

Allen should be angry at the ref if anyone. This isn't a club match where players ref themselves

I don't think he's racist. If he's annoyed by something, it's about culture more, not race. Then again, he took most of his words about Chinese culture back, so, I agree, he's just acting like a blockhead who has little idea of what he's saying at most of the times.
On the other hand, there are fans that think toilet breaks are somewhat of an ungentlemanly conduct. I'm not one of them, but there's a fair share of people thinking that way. If something so little can even get this much consideration, we cannot just ignore all of his comments.
That said, I don't expect Mark to change his attitude. At times, he's looking like a joyful character and then goes on to do something controversial. He'll always have headaches with the top ranks of snooker organization, but I guess it's the way things will shape up, no matter what kind of a criticism we bring up here.
        All the way Mark J!!

But honestly "maybe it's a Chinese thing" is a pretty ignorant and offensive generalisation to make.
It's not a Chinese thing, It's an ALLEN thing. Taking too much of those happy pills...

Yeah he said it was obvious to him that it was a foul shot, must have some vision from a seated position to see through the ref as well, hardly surprising though he seems to have set his stall out this last year to offend as many people as possible, hes doing the game no favours especially as its rapidly expanding into China. I think weve all been here before with Alex Higgins ,there was always some gripe about tables, spectators, refs etc. Barry Hearn needs to stamp this out once and for all coz this toerag is fast damaging the game.

                    • Mark Allen's comments are ridiculous ... it's irrelevant whether or whether it was not a foul (replays aren't conclusive and the ref didn't call it) and Cao clearly isn't sure either by his statements after the match ...

But for Allen to accuse Cao of cheating and then to further say a number of Chinese players have been known to cheat is utterly ridiculous ...

I suppose on the basis of "any publicity is good publicity" his comments will get press coverage but it's Allen, in my opinion, who needs to learn to play with gentlemanly etiquette ... you got beat Mr Allen, go and sulk in a corner, have a tantrum with your teddy if you must but please don't accuse Cao and other Chinese of cheating because he didn't and they don't ...

                        Taking pills is no solution.
It is not an embarrassment to get help from a good life coach these days.
Probably some anger management would help in this case....

                        • Dennis Taylor is obviously a nice guy. And I think it's great to see Brecel acquitting himself quite well. However, if he says again what a nice lad Brecel is, or that he met his parents in Belgium, or how much his parents have sacrificed for him...

Good ol' Dennis. He's such a nice lad, his parents are wonderful as well.

Looking forward to the conclusion of the Maguire - Brecel match. Brecel looks to be taking the first frame...good start, he needed that.

yeah, we all accept and take it for granted that he is a good lad, and of course his parents have helped him a lot and sacrificed, it's pro sport, u dont get to the top in any sport without a lot of sacrifice, ask Stephen Maguire and many others for one what others have done for him! Meanwhile, GO LU-CA, LU-CA, LU-CA!! lol

                              • Higgins bought a house for his parents after winning his first big paycheck. Now that's how to re-pay your parents for their sacrifices! Great story.
