He's certainly got all the shots and a good safety game. He just makes the odd sloppy miss or positional shot at the moment, but I'm sure he's going to be very good once gets more experience and matures.

    • Maguire annoys me when I watch him, he can be so good, but when he's not playing well he's barely a top 16 player, he doesnt really have a B game so to speak, Luca missed a very good chance in that frame!

Exactly. People tend to forget these new players are, well...young They are rather raw still and need experience. If Luca can control his emotions/adrenaline-rushes then he has a real chance against Maguire, especially as Stephen is not as they say 'firing on all cylinders'.

I also (pardon the Dennis-esque behaviour) like Luca's demeanor and smiles around the table. He seems to have a good spirit...I like to see that in a young player.

Well...Maguire's frustration getting the better of him once again! Weird...no reason for it really. And he has been so good lately with controlling his temper.

Ha...I just turned green...must have something to do with Maguire's frustration

            • oh yeah. . . Maguire does have temper tantrums, that's why he'll never be a top 5 of all time player, COME ON LUCA!!! If he can get to 1 frame behind Maguire is seriously for the beating today!

              • Luca may only be 17, but at the moment he seems to be playing a 9 year old in his opponent.

                The slow and labourious,

                • What a shame. . . great blue, poor red! Occasionally seems to throw his cue but apart from that he's very good for his age, can see why he's a bad draw in those qualifiers!!

                  • Talk about a great blue...that one from Maguire wasn't too bad either He needs to channel his frustration/aggresion like he has been doing all season.

Yeah, but it's always bubbling just under the surface. Any more experienced opponent would have him up against the ropes By now.

yeah he's lucky that he's not playing a more experienced pro or a top tier player, he's too far clear now, Luca had to stay with Stephen to be in striking distance if he went off the boil, as he sometimes can do!

I agree. And in the past it has been his downfall, but this season he has really been able to channel it into focus and dedication. It has been working great for him. Seems like a bit of the old Stephen has turned up today

But with an 8-4 lead, I can't see him throwing it away against a new-comer.

                          • I detect Allen's dig at Cao was an attempt to deflect his embarrassment at the in off which was hilarious.

The main thing I've been wondering while I've been watching Brecel play is how I managed to get served in a pub when I was 15...he looks about 12 to me! So I haven't forgotten how young he is, and it should be noted as well he's about 80-odd in the world and playing one of the world's top players.

The words "Leopard" and "Spots" spring to mind, I'd like him to prove me wrong because he's a fantastic talent, but I think he'll always struggle with himself, it's just part of who he is. Still a very entertaining player to watch of course, maybe even more so because of his 'lively' nature.
