It's uncharacteristic of him to throw away leads like that, you're right.

So, he would freely go for his shots without fear, you say?

damn right he shouldnt be, neither is Williams, for some reason though Williams brings the best out of Ronnie it seems! Come on Mark, finish this off please!! Meanwhile Maguire has taken control of the first session vs Joe Perry!

Didn't turn out to be a frame winning shot this time, though.
He hasn't had this kind of generous run of balls against Ronnie in recent meetings. Actually, he had some awful run of balls, to be fair. Interesting.

he played awesome against ronnie at the worlds 2006 and 2010

he would have beaten any other player in that kind of form

nice win for Mark, well played to him, did a very pro and efficient job most of the time it appears, good result for Maguire too, he wont be complaining at 5 3 up!

Both of them were classics. I hope some similar match is awaiting for us despite the not-so-promising first round performance.
By the way, Hendry-Higgins and O'Sullivan-Williams. Players that have dominated the snooker in the last two decades clash off. Should be joyful : )

Speaking of classics, 2010 Masters semi was also a match in which both Ronnie and Mark played awesome.

Good snooker awaiting in the second round!!

                      • Not bad tonight, I'm glad Liu was able to make a match of it. Williams looked very edgy towards the end, especially that blue that would have won him the match before the interval. Needless to say, he won't beat O'Sullivan unless he improves dramatically.

I missed most of the Maguire-Perry match, but looking at the stats, it was a very good session. Perry played well against Maguire in 2008, unexpectedly taking him out in the quarter-finals, so I'm not surprised he is up for it again. On the other hand, I'm sure Maguire won't underestimate him for a second this time.

Williams have given many remarks of just wanting to avoid the draw O´Sullivan is in, so he looks as if he´s scared (a bit like Carter in the past). But I hope he shows that I´m mistaken.

it would be quite weird if Williams was scared of Ronnie, that's not what pro sportsmen do obviously, especially when Williams is one of the greats of all time! Cant wait for tomorrow now!

He has been quoted to say that more than once and he hasn´t beaten Ronnie in a ranking tournament for 10 years now. Anyway I think there are several players who are mentally scared of O´Sullivan, which was also what I meant before. Dominic Dale and Maguire are two others, and until app. three years ago Carter looked like he had lost before the matches against Ronnie had even started.
