Hard to see Williams winning this one to be honest. Even though he showed some glimpses of his old form against Chuang, he started to struggle to find some consistency in the second session. Even though O'Sullivan wasn't at his best against Ebdon, he looked to be focused and up for the challenge.
No doubt both players will be up for this one, but I think it's essential for Williams to get off to a good start than O'Sullivan. I predict O?Sullivan to win 13-8..
My favorite players going against each other. I'd love to watch at least 23 frames out of a possible 25. A decider would be dreamy.
Neither Mark nor Ronnie was somewhere near their best in the first round. They just got the job done.
I don't expect one getting away in any of the first sessions. It's highly likely that the decisive session is going to be the third and the last session.
And finally..
Come on Mark!! Come on Ronnie!!
All the way Mark J!!

Not sure who will be beaten more convincingly, Higgins or Williams... If any match is going to finish with a session to spare, it's this one. Williams had a decent period of standing up to O'Sullivan, around 2008-2010, but having lost all of their matches, I think he now looks beaten as soon as O'Sullivan shows a glimpse of form.
I hope I'm exaggerating a bit of course, it could still be a good match. O'Sullivan hasn't really been at his best since Germany. He did the business against Ebdon in the 1st round, but it could have been different had Ebdon not been so out of sorts. O'Sullivan usually raises his game against Williams, that's no secret. Even when he was struggling with his long potting, his problems seemed to magically disappear against Williams, and he played extremely effective one-visit snooker.
It's not that O'Sullivan is unbeatable when he plays like that, but it's extremely ill-advised to take him on in that type of game. That's why some of the players who are not known for their fluent scoring rhythm have a good record against him, while the likes of Ding and Maguire do not. Williams seems unwilling to change his game though. On one hand, he is sometimes extremely clever and resourceful, playing shots other players don't even consider, but other times he just comes across as uninspired and lazy.
If this turns into an open scoring duel, and in-form Williams beats a sub-par O'Sullivan. In every other case, O'Sullivan has to be favourite.
