I wonder why Mark never considers getting things scrappy against Ronnie. After all, he plays those kind of frames particularly well and is well capable of playing a grinder's style to win the things. But somehow, against Ronnie, he opts to stick to his own open style and if his game is not there, he just lets it go completely.
There have been couple of great matches, worth consideration of a classic, like Masters semi final in 2010, or World Championship 2nd round in 2010, in which we saw them both playing somewhere near their absolute best and both of those matches could easily have gone to Mark as well, so, personally, I see no reason for Mark to drop his head and resign from the beginning.
If that sort of open duel is going to be won against Ronnie O'Sullivan, he's one of few players to stand a chance.
    All the way Mark J!!

I wouldn't underestimate Williams. Ronnie certainly won't be.

What has happened to Ronnie's hair? He looked fine in the first round, now he looks like Sonic the Hedgehog

What a snooker it was by Ronnie and what an escape it was by Mark. Great start to the match.

Fantastic end to the first frame. Two awesome snookers and 2 equally good escapes...hope they keep this standard going!

Mark made two crucial mistakes and missed good chances to win this frame. We're back on terms now.

Great performance by both so far, lovely snookers and escapes, loving this match, over 50 plus breaks are looking good, 2 in one frame and 1 frame all, should be a belter, ronnie I hope will win and sort his ranking out this week getting to a semi or a final, NO WAY should he be outside of the top 8!

Yeah this one is really looking very good! Could be the game we were expecting between Higgins and Hendry...let's hope it will.

Williams will have to be at his brilliant best to get out of this afternoon's session 5-3 down. Ronnie looks seriously up for it and he's cueing like a dream, even by Ronnie's standards.

A quickfire 95, just falls short of century. Brilliant break by Ronnie.

He does, when Ronnie is focused he's a proper nightmare to try and beat, very close to trying to beat a prime and focused Hendry, cant see Ronnie not making the semis or even the final if he really wants to!
