Just listened to Judd's interview on worldsnooker.com, and I got to say that his not as bad as people make out of him and it's too bad really if all this negativity will get to him and influence his game.

His a good guy and a great talent, just has to work on the mental side a bit and title's will come running.

I dont know how they sleep at night, to think that their job is to provoke people and create controversy knowing that people will buy the papers and read it, its VERY sad indeed, the press annoy me frankly, it's not fair on the players that they have to dodge traps that are laid out

Putting words in people's mouths is what they do for a living. I haven't bought a newspaper now for going on 15 years and never will again. It's bad enough doing it to celebs etc. but they do it to ordinary people every day of the week and no-one bats an eyelid.

Fantastic match, the tension when Judd started getting those snookers in the 25th and the white creeping towards a free ball. The sarcastic clap was a bit OTT, however, it makes entertainment for all of us. That red of Trumps though, that's a shocker. Still, he's only 22 and if he's got the right team behind him he'll win plenty of tournaments over the coming years. Be good to see Carter make the final.

I agree with you. I know it is their jobs to get stories but I also don't like the way they go about it. Like the guy from the Mail saying he felt it was fine to 'tap' into peoples phones because it was in the publics interest. They only care that the public buy papers and will go to any lengths to do it.

In this case we can listen to the whole interview from each of them and hear they were not really saying anything controversial at all and both praised the others games.

Well I enjoyed that match thoroughly, great tension and pretty high quality snooker, it was sad to see Trump lose but Carter deserved the win and it's great to see him doing well again considering he was struggling so much not that long. ago.

Coming from a big Trump fan here, I would say that Trump needs more determination in his game, throughout his comeback and the final frame you could see the determination in Carter's face but Trump showed nothing until the end where he looked absolutely distraught, generally people with relaxed playing styles like that are susceptible to comebacks from their opposition.

As usual for Trump there was questionable shot selection at times but he plays a completely extreme kind of game which I enjoy, and when these risks work out for him he looks like a genuine hero, I don't blame him for being that risky.

Carter annoyed me a bit during the match though, that sarcastic clap he did was rather rude imo, he seemed a bit butthurt in some situation tbh instead of actually getting on with the match, good job his frustration didn't come across in his gameplay. I don't think it's a big deal when players don't apologise for flukes tbh, there are plenty who don't.

Mad props to Trump at the end in his attempt to get snookers, that would have been the most epic end to a match ever if he had pulled it off. Carter talks about Trump being lucky but he was extremely lucky not to leave a free ball through his carelessness.

Just like the way you call it, Carter was lucky to get away with carelessness.
However, Trump's luck doesn't come into play when he plays careless shots. He goes for outrageous shots and gets away most of the times that when really shouldn't. It's not about playing a loose safety and covering a red or something. It's about going to shots full-blooded and somehow getting away with them.
In fact, Trump has little idea of where the object ball is going to end up in most of his deep-screw shot-to-nothing shots. This is something he is getting away with.

With all criticism, hats off to Trump for his last run to get the snookers. He came up with excellent shot after excellent shot. I marveled at his snooker attempts more than any of his pots.

You might say the only lucky player is the one that won. Most of Trump's audacious pots are played as shot-to-nothing safety shots, so it's not that surprising he gets things safe quite often. Or did Carter think Trump fluked that unbelievable red he got when warned under the 3 miss rule?

After Carter clapped Trump's snooker he seemed to think better of his actions and nod to the effect that he did acknowledge good play from his opponent. Carter's remarks as reported and behaviour seem to be contradictory and inconsistent.

In any case it was great to watch, even if painful for a Trump fan. Trump lost because he missed too may pots (and not just the outrageous long ones)/lost position too much.

While watching the match I was able to convince myself the antagonism was got up by the media. Now it seems there really is something to it, but it's entirely in Carter's own head.

No, he shook his head in disbelief there because he thought it was way too difficult and risky to take on at that stage. In fact, watching the match, I did a similar gesture when I saw that pot.
Carter got really frustrated in that position because there have been a couple of shots that Trump really had a good run of balls (not something miraculous, but still a good run of balls, we can say) and finally, when he laid that snooker which seemed like an illusion at first, he lost his control and protested against him.
I'm not a proponent of his action, but I understand where it did come from. At such a crucial stage of the match, that snooker looked like a potential match losing situation and there is no way you avoid getting effected by that play badly. Even so, although he should definitely have kept his nerves under control at that moment, there is no reason to throw him under the bus for such a minor action.

At first I was a big fan of his, now Im glad he's out, the bloke needs to learn a bit of humility and realize it's not all about him. Well done to Ali, a true pro and decent bloke who deserved to win.

carter had some luck too, I love watching trump play, but the fact was he got very lucky 4 or 5 times in that decider, he had a definite run of the ball, he's a perfectly good match player, he needs to learn not to take so many long pots on, the one where he was forced into potting it was shot of the championship I think, I mean others where he hit balls way too hard and thought he could pot anything earlier in the match, there's a fine line and judd's quite capable of grinding out his chances more, it would make him a much more effective player, at the moment if his pots aren't going in he looks beatable by a good solid pro performance from someone like a carter or a stevens, someone who's been round the block and knows what to play when!
