  • Stephen Hendry v Stephen Macguire - Quarter Final

I figure we need some lead up discussion for this match because it's a big one.

What is interesting is Hendry hasn't beaten Macguire for many a year. Macguire has won at least the last 3 times they played

But this championship could be Hendry living the saying " I'm not as good as i once was, but i can be as good once as i ever was"

    I guess we will see

I am praying from a Hendry v Ronnie final. That would make my whole year if that happened.

Me too, I said that very saying to my Dad when I was banging on about how great Hendry had been in his first round match, very true saying that, I actually fancy Stephen, 13 11!

I really hope it's at least close but I fear for Hendry.

Maguire is the complete player when his head is right.

Unfortunately i believe that Maguire will be too strong for Hendry . 13-8 Maguire . But would love to see the Wonder Bairn win .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

Everyone is going to predict Maguire to win this match. But I'm not so sure...

Maguire is going to be under massive pressure - probably more than Hendry (who on this season's form wouldn't have expected to get this far). Also, Hendry is Maguire's boyhood hero, and they have never played at the Crucible.

If Maguire gets a great start and wins the opening session 7-1 or 6-2, I would expect him to cruise to the win.
But if it goes close I think Hendry has a real chance, as I think Hendry can handle great pressure better than Maguire.

well said, also if Maguire gets frustrated and isnt playing fantastic or doesnt start well it's gonna be VERY interesting, I shall certainly be rising early for this one!! I've been on 9 hour snooker watch 5 days out of 7, the rest of the time I'm working, I've had it on on the quiet then too! lol

Maguire will beat Hendry quite comfortably. He'll take the title this year.

I don't know about Maguire taking the title, however I do think that Hendry's bubble will burst in this match and could end up being embarrassing for him. He has to play even better than he has done in his first two matches and I don't think that is possible.
He is still missing a few bad balls but so far he hasn't been punished for that so he hasn't lost that much confidence. However he's not going to keep on getting away with it against an in form player, which I'd like to remind people he hasn't played one yet!

Maguire 13-7 and I'm being generous with the 7!

I also think if Hendry gets Good Start he will beat Maguire as if Maguires head explodes and he starts banging the table Hendry will take full advantage of this as he has been here many of times. If Hendry loses 1st Session 5-3 or 6-2 then Maguire will win.

C'mon Hendry I will go for 13-9 Win for Hendry.

Those that are rooting for a Hendry-O'Sullivan final should turn back and have a look at their 2008 SF, where he was thrashed by O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan is showing somewhat of a similar form level and I see no reason why Hendry won't get thrashed should they meet in this year's final, as well.

I'm having problems watching this on my laptop, neither table is working, I'm getting the bbc site with a lot of stories on and no the usual 2 windows with each game in one of them? I'm using Google Chrome. . . any suggestions?
