If one match is something to decide upon, wouldn't he have retired after Ronnie beat the hell out of him in 2004.

I actually though the same thing in the morning session. I always felt Hendry would retire early and not do a Davis or White and carry on playing through his love of the game. I think the only buzz he's ever got was from winning tournaments, or thinking that he has a chance to win tournaments. Now that its plain to see that his game is only good on the odd day or two then the reality is he's never going to win another title, even making a quarter final has to be seen as a huge achievement which says a lot for how far his game is away from what is needed to win titles.

I doubt he'll retire after this because it would look like a case of throwing his toys out of the pram, plus everyone will try to convince him otherwise, mainly because of the 147 and knocking out Higgins.
But next season, if he carries on dropping down the rankings then I think it'll be time for him to call it a day!

Could be, could be he doesn't want it to end on this low a moment (although making a 147). I really hope he doesn't end his career, should he lose this match...which is pretty much inevitable.

I feel for him, it must be very hard to take...not being able to push yourself to play at the top-level and compete when behind anymore. Very sad to see, I must say.

But...Maguire is playing marvelous snooker, as he has been doing all season really. I would love to see Maguire win this WC.

And since his last trophy win, 7 years passed, so, good indication, eh?

                    • Maguire missed an relatively easy pink with the rest...and he looked devastated...he really wants to finish tonight.

                        • Well this is a disaster, hard to watch really. Hopefully it ends now so I don't have to come back and watch this horror show tomorrow.

                            • Miserable crowd. Giving someone cutting the deficit to nine frames a big applause. As if that was an accomplishment.

                              • My god, you know Stephen Hendry has given up when he's having a laugh with his opponent, usually he would never even acknowledge their existence.
