Stevens leads 11-5 but it's not over yet, remember the 2007 Murphy vs Stevens quarter-final.
Yes, only a couple of players have lost a three-session match from 11-5 up, and Stevens is one of them. But he is not playing Murphy this time. I can't really see Day getting back into the match, but if he finds his rhythm again and gets on a good scoring run, you never know...
If Robertson wins his quarter-final and Stevens completes the job here, that match will be a good one because Stevens has shown some tremendous break building in this tournament so far and once again looks like the player he was back in his prime.
As far as Maguire is still my favorite to win the tournament, I think this is a good chance for Stevens, as well. I mean, he has always been considered an underachiever and if he somehow pulls this title off, guess what, he completes the treble. Let's see if he's up to it this time.
I'm really on his side to do his best. As far as natural talent concerned, only few players do possess more than him.
Yes, he's yet to complete the quarter-final match and even then, he will have two unbelievably tough matches awaiting him, but hey, that will be in World Championship semi-finals, a best-of-33, so, it's not like he will play couple of loose shots and crash out of the tournament. He will have his chances. Everybody gets those chances in such a long match.
Come on Matthew, you can still avoid that etiquette of being one of the best not to have won the Worlds

I know it's probably just a touch of self-consciousness, but has anyone else noticed the way Matthew Stevens frowns at the balls every time he misses a shot, like the reason for him having missed can't possibly be as simple as him having cued it badly or misread the potting angle?

He literally looks at the table in disbelief, but it's got to be about his own play. Like "How on the earth did I just miss that one!"

11 frames in a row for Stevens from 5-2 down. Anyone know if that's a crucible record for successive frames in a single match?
If I remember correct Williams beat Hann 13-2 after beeing 0-2 down a lot of years ago. I think that is the record
(I'm too late again..)
