I think Ali has indeed played a negative game so far in this final, which is not typical of him, he's usually a very attacking player. I don't think his tactics will work as it's not his natural game, I believe he should go back to playing his game...

to be quite honest both played their worst session in this WC but forutnatly ronnie still won the session 5-4
as he has done it before he will gear up and hopefully will go with a signifcant into the final session
cant see carter winning really
yeah, last year higgins turned around a 7-10 deficit, but first carter is not higgins and the latter one was playing a first time finalist at the Crucible. judd lost it for me by taking on a missable blue along the side cushion with the rest to be 13-9 up. he didnt get it and lost 5 frames on the bounce. from there on higgins never looked back
carter isnt as clinical as higgins so ronnie will get his chances. neither will be happy with their yesterdays play but wont be too disappotinted. if ronnie wins the third session at least with 5-3 the match is virtually over.
carter did well under pressure till the final but his opponents didnt punish him enough. had he played maguire yesterday he would have snicked some more frames.
prediction: 18-11

Ali has done really well and i hope he keeps the faith that he can do it.
Has no one else noticed that Ronnie was turning down LOADS of shots!
So in answer to you if he can keep to his game plan absolutely yes! But it is a lot to ask of himself, so i just hope he can keep his energy levels up enough to play, as he has done so well!!
If he can just keep in mind his last couple of wins and apply himself like that he could give Ronnie a real scare!

Carter cant win this final. He has two choices :
1. to play his natural game, something he didnt do until now in the final. If he does that, Ronnie will be more comfortable and will get more fluent and will eventually overwhelm Carter. We all know Ali cant cope with Ronnie at an attacking game. And Ronnie will be world champion.
2. to play like he did in the first day. If he plays like that he will disrupt Ronnies rhythm but he will struggle himself because he is not used to that sort of negative play. The frames will somehow be shared between them, but like in the first day Ronnie will at least draw the sessions and that means he will be world champion."There has only ever been Alex Higgins, myself and now Ronnie O'sullivan who play the game the way it should be played with such excitement - I know the fans love it this way" - Jimmy White

I dont think he played negative at all defensive yes, but not negative!
Why is Ronnie letting Ali dictate it anyway? why does HE not play his natural game? I know what you mean about rhythm but...???
If Ali can find the energy and strenght of mind to completely focus on channelling his anger into his plan of slipping in and out of attack defence he has a good chance!, but yes it is a massive challenge, and you are right Ronnie will probably win, but i do hope Ali does well and finds what he needs to take this as far as he can x

O'Sullivan is also playing negative snooker if you think staying on the defensive side is playing negative. He has turned down numerous potting chances and with some sort of his lead on his side, he showed a tendency to keep the balls out of the game.
I'm not going to criticize the players. They both want this title badly.Last edited by montoya10; 7 May 2012, 11:47 AM.All the way Mark J!!

Ronnie is playing the same game as Ali and a number of frames could have went either way so Ali is doing well! Think is this strategy is fairly new to Carter but not Ronnie and he is a little bit better at it at the mo, for me thats why Ali lost it a bit last night.

anything less would be too much
After all, in any case, he will have to get off to a good start in the evening session.
That said, of course, at 13-12, he has as good of a chance as O'Sullivan, so, he'd love to win the session. All the way Mark J!!

Who could say this is the Ronnie we all know? He has even given up on a couple of fair maximum opportunities. All he cares is the world title at the moment. He couldn't care less about those who are laying down on their sofas in front of their TVs to watch them play.
I respect the character he showed, so, it goes the same for Ali, as well,All the way Mark J!!
