"Elitist"...? If he can afford a final ticket, he can afford a decent shirt!
      Don't be so commonplace! :P

      • i fail to see how affording a final ticket means you have to buy a shirt, you are making more of an occasion than it is,
unless it says there is a dress code you can wear what you want, its a game of snooker, its the world championship but you can wear what you want you have paid your ticket. He may have been given a ticket who knows, makes no difference to the result
and its only you who misplaces the sense of occasion, like i said put your tux on if it makes you feel better. Wearing a suit never made me do my job better and it never will and i wouldnt like to be dictated to what i wear when i go to a paid for sports event

Why would you have to buy a shirt? Who doesn't have a shirt? And what does "wearing a suit never made me do my job better" even mean - what relevance has that to what we are talking about??

I think it's sad we're even having this debate. I'm misplacing the sense of occasion?! It's the world snooker final session at the Crucible, in front of hundreds of millions watching on TV. How can you not see that a football shirt might not be appropriate dress for such an occasion?

Must we lose a sense of dignity and class in every aspect of our lives? What is happening to the world...
          No, Sir, I respectfully disagree.

          • Lol at people actually caring if somebody wears a sports top to the snooker final, honestly I find it a bit weird to wear a suit to go and see a sports event but that's just me, I know I wouldn't wear one.

              • It's only the last day that we're talking about. You can wear whatever you want in the previous 60 sessions, just look presentable in the last one.

                • becuase i dont define myself by the clothes i wear i dont judge others on them either, i am sure there are many people who dont own a shirt, just becuase you cant comprehend that doesnt make it any less valid,
and dont ask open ended questions about what is happening to the world, raise your eyes to the sky if you want and despair but we dont all agree, its an easy way to disregard everything because it doesnt conform to your ideals of how things should be.
fact is it doesnt matter what people wear to the world snooker final its just your prejudice against a football top that could so easily be swapped in for a granny wearing a cardigan, its just how you see it

Nah, if he's wearing a football shirt then he obviously nicked his ticket didn't he, probably mugged one of those sweet old dears who save up their pension money all year round for it.

                        • I just remember from being a boy watching the Crucible Final (and Masters, btw) everyone in the front rows formally dressed, looking smart. I thought it was very pleasant and added something to the occasion and atmosphere. Something that set these finals apart from all others, made them special.

Then I grow up and see many traditions being destroyed in my country and culture.
Maybe you see it as a trivial thing, sir, but this blasé attitude to tradition is indicative of wider problems IMO.

This is the FIRST full WC I've ever been able to watch live since I started playing in 1991. I'm just a little overwhelmed at the moment. :very_drunk:

I agree with everything you said. Those 3 blokes dressed in football strips were a complete embarrassment, absolutely bloody laughable. The snooker showpiece event of the year with millions watching overseas and we get three tramp lookalikes in the front row! They looked like they'd crawled in from the nearest five-a-side pitch and slumped there.
I too, remember when almost everyone was formally dressed for such occasions, but don't forget those people almost all wore school uniforms throughout their educational years and were used to being smart.
Whoever said "Winning isn't everything; it's the only thing" was an arsehole.

                              • Gotta agree Ronnie Played Great Snooker for 17 days and didnt look Upset in any Match then you Know Ronnie is very Dangerous!

I gotta say people who had 8/1-10/1 for Ronnie to Win World Championship had a great bet as soon as they seen his first Match against Ebdon as I thought Ebdon would cause Ronnie Problems with his Slow Play but when Ronnie won that 10-4 I knew then he would Take some Stopping as he had the "RIGHT HEAD ON" Which he doesnt very Often.

I also agree what "JOE PERRY" Said if he really Wanted too he would have Broke every Record out there Quite Easily, And as Hendry Keeps Saying "Ronnie" Best Player hes ever Played or Seen coming from a 7 Times World Champion that speaks for itself.

I Gotta say Ronnies the "Best Ever" Natural Player ever to pickup a Snooker so Good its Unreal when he wants to be, I really Hope he Doesnt Retire as we need him more than he Needs Us.

Keep going Ronnie and Beat this 7 Times World Champion Record as we all know you can do it "IF YOU WANT TOO".
