The highlight of the second round is a possible match-ups between Jimmy and Ding if the China Open Champ can put away Mr.Pottingham, the revenge for Jim's loss to Ding (4-2) in the Premier League could be an inspiration... just don't mention blacks to middles!

3rd Round could see Henders V Williams; mates until break-off.

(Ali Carter V Jamie Cope in the 1st round will be followed avidly by some)

Whatever your preference for a winner... I just want nail biting matches, heart pumping excitement, nerve jangling moments, impressive clearances, record breaking performances, a few world's firsts, no male streakers, major facial contortions, atmosphere to cry for, letters on t-shirts a-plenty, 1 sleeping audience member, a cracking highlight compilation, a deciding frame for the finalists, 1x147, no multiple foul-and-a-miss shenanigans, no 'bouncing cushions, no whinging, no whining, no slow-play, no mobiles, a portion of banter, a statement from the WSA re sponsorship, an enforced rule change, stimp readings, at least one ball potted via the top of a cushion, old timers laying down the law, new guns peeling layers off your eyes...... oh yeah, the moon on a stick!

Is anyone going, is anyone thinking of turning up on-spec? Anyone gonna post up some pix or host a movie? Or lay some bets maybe? Is anyone doing a sweepstake? forget the last one!

I've put some wedge on John Higgins at 5/1 - that's gotta be the best price going.

I'm off to see both semi-finals and may pop there after work on Wednesday this and next week as well as this Saturday. Working in York wins, I only hope they don't knock the Barbican down for a few years yet.

Opening day saw some interesting results, Jamie Cope was well and truly dished 9-3 by Ali Carter, though its no surprise to me as I rate Ali as one of the best players on the circuit when he's playing well. Dominic Dale also won by the same scoreline, defeating Barry Pinches, which surprised me as Pinches has been in good form over the last 12 months or so.

Shock of the day though is Ian McCulloch losing to Jamie Burnett 9-7, Burnett has done nothing in the game for a few seasons so to defeat last years world championship semi finalist is a major win. He now faces Paul Hunter in the next round and will surely fancy his chances of progressing further.

Well what can i say? Ali Carter must have played brilliant, or Jamie must have played terrible. Im a bit shocked though, i never thought hed lose by that many frames..
I love the game of snooker :) (even though my mates think that its just a load of balls :D )

Feel sorry for Jamie Nat, but we all know the class of Ali Carter; always rated him, especially tough for him when he has that debilitating stomach disease too.

Cracking match between Holt and Walden; http://www.worldsnooker.com/tourname...d17581)-42.htm Holt was docked a frame at 7-7 and had already been warned for ungentlemanly conduct... now there's a Ref to command respect; a lady by the name of Patricia Murphy. (I wish she was reffing my match on Monday; geez the guy was slow; 4 minutes on one shot.... and that didn't even stand out as a one-off!)

Ding V Jim is now a reality..... Black to middle Jim, D'oh! Kick needs to take out his camera more often... we can start a new media sub-forum!

Don't forget Livescoring is available: gratis.

exactly Cueman... excellent, never a 9-8 in any other circumstances, no shocker if he'd've lost... more of a shock to see his pic on WSA http://www.worldsnooker.com/news_tournaments-17584.htm I've seen healthier looking people in hospital. Hope this is helping him to recover.

More amazing still is that he needed a snooker on the final pink in the final frame; 14 behind.

                    go paul.

Yes its remarkable really that he is still playing if he is feeling so bad. He deserves to win something this season after all he has been through and is still going through. I doubt he will though as he must be physically shattered after each match and there is only so much your body can take. Still I'll support him as I always have done since 1997 and I hope he gets back to normal quickly.

I just got back from York today after watching the 1st session of O'Sullivan vs King. Decent enough match though O'Sullivan certainly had the run of the ball, or should I say King had a bad run of luck. Neither player seemed on top form, maybe a case of early nerves whilst they settle into the match.

To be honest I only go to snooker events once each tournament, if I'm free, just for my support of the game but I do prefer to watch it on TV. You do get a better feel for the match when you are live in the arena but the view isn't always great.
