Jimmy will have more confidence at the moment but it's a perfect draw for Hendry in the sense that he'll be 100% focused.
Agree that both will have their chances in most frames, so it's in both their hands.

It will be nice to see them both at the table again in a serious tournament, lets hope the table is serious.
The tables do seem to be very different from tournament to tournament these days, but I thought the table at the World Open was quite tight. I was pleasantly surprised at the number of balls that stayed out, because we'd kind of gotten used to the pockets accepting ridiculous balls. I'm hoping for something similar at the UK.

Anyway, regarding the Hendry-White match, I actually don't think this is one of the more balanced pairs of the 1st round. While Hendry isn't one of the main contenders here, White certainly isn't one of the more dangerous qualifiers either. Apart from the short-format World Open, his recent appearances at the TV stages of major events have mostly been disastrous.

One thing in his favour is certainly the fact that he is on the back of a very convincing qualifying campaign, and that those qualifiers were played only a couple of days before the tournament proper. So he will know he is in good enough shape to compete. He will also know that Hendry hasn't had any good results at all, and that he usually hasn't been particularly competitive before the new year in recent seasons.

But ultimately, unless there is some big match I'm forgetting, I don't think White has beaten any player ranked as high as Hendry in the last five years. That's why I would make Hendry the clear favourite here.

But whatever happens, it promises to be an interesting match.

Thorne and Virgo in the box will be interesting because one will be supporting Hendry and the other White. They could come to blows

I think Hendry will win, mainly because Hendry's career depends on it. You wont see Hendry after this season if he keeps losing imo.

One thing it does show is that Snooker needs Jimmy White. The anticipation rises ten fold when he is playing, especially at the moment with Snooker being how it is. It gets people interested again. Snooker is desperate for games like this.

Im just delighted jimmy qualified, and won 3 UK matches, and he has nothing to lose now. sure its not that long ago people on here were writing him off, saying hed never compete with players even from 32 to 48 ever again..but that was when he was on the brink of dropping off the tour, and hey ho, look whats happening now, look whos back potting balls again. yeah, your correct, its mr white.

How about Jamie Cope and Ali Carter in PTC 5 and Neil Robertson in EPTC 1. All beat by Jim.

Yes, of course. I only meant the major TV events. White did have some success in other events like the ones you mention, and he also had some wins in the World Series events, as well as his final couple of seasons in the Premier League. He has also done very well in 6-reds snooker.

                            seriously PTC Does not matter.

we all know some players not put their all in to matches and Ding is going to get disciplined for it.

Jimmy desperation for ranking points meant he gave the PTC Everything he had all the time others did not and Carter and Robertson are 2 that did not give it that much. carter hardly played any.
