  • Jimmy needs to work on his break off i think, lots of times when he breaks he leaves chances & he paid the price for it in the last frame, which was a shame.
The standard of play in the current game you can't get away with too many un forced errors & hendry was there for the taking in this match really.

Proved again today though he is the best player with the rest you can't take that away from him.

              • I didn't think the green ws the bad shot, i thought it was the yellow. If he had got better position on the green, he had a chance but really it was asking a lot to get in behind it. He should have dropped the yellow in. The cue ball landed in a position where neither safety shot or pot were easy.

Even then, it was still asking an awful lot to win it from there.

Either could have won that game and it was enthralling viewing. Lets hope we get more of these matches because it's quite clear that the public want to see more of these games, rather than the other matches.

                • I enjoyed the match, Both made mistakes but it was clear to me that the nearer the winning line came jimmy's head started to go, he put quite a few quick ones in and to mess up your break off in the final frame is also school boy stuff. hendrys is jimmy bogie player and always will be. I would have fancied beating the both of them today.

you didn't predict a win you said hendry would thrash jimmy he made as many mistakes as jimmy did ifnot more and it ended as a poor match and by the standards hendry plays at now he hasn't got a chance against mark Williams im sure you agree there .

                        • I think the match was great vintage stuff despite the generally poor standard from both. Just like it was in the old days. Jimmy didn't take his chances and got punished by Stephen. Funny, that the ambitious green was the first (and only) miss by jimmy in the whole match with the rest. And the last break by Stephen was equally unique in the whole match (except frame 1). Credit for both players & hope to see 'em battling again
Ten reds and not a colour...

what that match proved you do not need amazing play and breaks flying in to make a match compelling viewing.

in the 80s during the boom years there was a lot of that.

                              • Its nerve with Jim always has been, even more now he's been away from tv. Saying that he won 3 qualifiers to get to this stage, two with big margins so not doin bad for 48. So disappointed with the highlights, couldn't watch the final session because of work so looked forward to highlights, joined it at 8 all to watch Hendry knock in 72 and it was all over. What happened to the other 8 frames? Seems i missed all the drama.
