Nah but more often than not Selby does the 'sane' thing and plays safe (and good safe) instead of some crazy long pot.
At points I wished MJW would have acted as Selby.
    Nevermind.
    Goooooooooood job MJW!!!

      • Before 2nd session Eurosport showed stats on SF players - # of SF, F, Tournament Wins - Murph has lost so many of SFs!
        Yet another one now.
And MJW has the best %.

I don't have such a wish. I find Selby's game solid, but robotic, actually.
I didn't feel nervous when he was taking that red, cause I didn't think he would try it..
When the camera switched position, I was like this:

What? Why do they show the picture from this angle? He isn't taking a pot, so, main camera will give us a better look! Come on!!

I was then left with an amazed look on my face after he took it.
No, not the risk he took. Black and pink were tough, so, that was a guarantee for him, to some degree, of course
But finding such a self belief in his long game, when it clearly let him down for the entire day nearly, was quite a mental accomplishment, I would say.

A great final it can be tomorrow
          All the way Mark J!!

          • At 8-6 after losing 5 frames in a row, this seemed unlikely to say the least. Great comeback from Williams, I think even he doesn't know how he did that the way he was playing.

            • Well... It doesn't get better than that, does it?

You could have bet your life on Murphy winning at 8-6. He started taking the frames in one visit, while Williams couldn't pot a ball. But it's not over until it's over, and Williams never gave up. Some of the shots he played in the last couple of frames were brilliant.

On the other hand, Murphy looked good for those four frames, but he played very poorly for most of the match. It just shows you that you don't need high quality for a great match. Just play it in two sessions on a big stage, and if it goes close, you can't go wrong.

The only complaint I can make is about that black going in... What the hell was that again? You can't have one of snooker's major tournaments played on tables like these. I hope they sort it out for the Masters.

Looking forward to the final now.

                No not really

Or well. Let the final be, and end in a not less exciting way :snooker:

As long as the right man wins...

Maybe moondan afterall is not as crazy as many try to hint

Robotic - you mean in a way that he looks like when he's playing (visually), or his decision-making about which shot to take on?

I swing into a less risky thing to play when it's something deciding the fate of the frame, even more so the match.

Still cant complain about MJW's choices much with his smart (or crazy-smart) play-offs, and crazy pots

                      From World Snooker:

Murphy said: “This is one of those weird times when you play really well and get beaten. I have got no complaints and I thought Mark played well when he needed to. My only complaint is that at 8-6 I never really had a clear-cut chance to close the match out. I wouldn't say I bottled it or missed my chances, he just froze me out of the game.”

                        More about decision making.
Especially if he is playing Ronnie, he is just a pain for all of us watching, just keeping the balls at weird places, dragging it out..
Not because he can't score heavily at those times.
Because he just wants to play mind games with Ronnie, which makes me, a loyal fan of The Rocket, mad

By the way, who is moondan

                        • Murphy has been fantastic all week and deserved to win the tournament ahead of both Higgins and Williams. Tonight was a freak result, which happens in snooker, Williams said as much in his interiew after.

A privilage to watch Murphy this week, say what you like about him, he is a class act.
28th April 1985 - the day it all started!

I'm mad at those times too. But on Ronnie - because he takes some long pot when his long potting that day is 0%, or when he get impatient (that's most of the time) and just plays whatever shot.

But you have to give credit to Selby for successful mindgames!

I like 'efficient' or 'result(win)-bringing' decision making

Not complaining too much this time.
I like this piece "he just froze me out of the game"

And this is something interesting by MJW
"At 8-6 down I thought I was gone, then I changed my cueing"

                              • This was a strange semifinal match where instead of watching two out of four most in form players having a cracker of a match, we watched two out of sorts players. Neither of them really deserves a final of the second largest ranking tournament this year. Both of them reached the semi playing bad, relying mostly on experience. This goes more for Mark Williams who played underaverage snooker this whole week. But that doesn't rule him out for the final today, cause i still believe that he will find inspiration knowing that he'll be up against by far the best player in last 5 years. I'm not a guy who'll search the statistics, but my opinion is that Mark leads in head to head with Higgins as well. (correct me if i'm wrong)
