I despair at comments like this. If you are a true representation of today's snooker fan, then the game doesn't stand a chance.

If this final failed to thouroughy entertain you, then I strongly suggest snooker isn't for you.

Me too. I honestly don't remember the disappointment of seeing someone lose a final lasting this long. I'm usually over it by the time I wake up the next day, but I'm still hurting over this one.

Maybe this says more about my strength of character (or lack of it) - and please don't think I'm suggesting it should be the same for Mark - but I truly couldn't have faced my wife and kids after that. The pain I would be feeling after letting them down (as I would see it) would be unbearable, and them telling me it was okay and that I hadn't let them down would only make it worse.

I am a Massive Mark Williams Fan as used to Play with him, But how on Earth did he just Pot That Black without even trying to get a Shot at that Yellow? Which would Go in Yellow Pocket.

I just didn't Understand it as the Black Was Easy and could have Screwed Back or Top to get closer to Yellow.

Sorry Mark but you throu that Away m8 should have Been Yours 9-5 Up!!

          Im Gutted.........
Gaz you probaly know Marks game better than us , but when he is on game ball he will always make sure of the pot unless the position is straight forward .

Thats what he,s always done and i would say 99% percent of the game it has gone in his favour . I feel he played the right shot under the circumstances , after all he was under the cosh a bit so you cant blame him for making certain of the black .

He's bound to win something sooner or later, he's been playing at 30%-40% all week and made the final (nearly won it as well). Imagine when he hits form:snooker:

It's not a weakness in character to express your disappointment, on the contrary...

It's hurting every Mark Williams fan all the same. It's not the loss in itself but the way he lost having potted a "potential" frame & match ball when 9-7 up, then missing the escape on the yellow and going in-off, going into the pack God knows how many times & not getting any luck when on 30-40 breaks in those last few frames. A lot of what ifs are going through my mind (and I'm sure yours, too).

The mental roller-coaster can be so cruel at times... Not sure many players could have handled that!!!

            • Great game of snooker !
I was disappointed for Mark as he was unfortunate with breaking the pack of reds in the last frames...
But I think he was also a bit careless at the snookers exchanges. Higgins played some poor shots then & Mark just hit the ball and created no snooker.
Anyway, it was a big game ans i was happy at the end.

Thanks, cue1. The commentators often say how cruel the game can be, and last night was its final example.

Talking of 'ifs', I'm sure I can't have been the only one who saw an easier escape on that yellow that Mark missed before finding the middle pocket. If he'd have played down the spots and onto the top cushion with right-hand side, surely he'd have found the yellow??

Actually, I was surprised that he could still battle in the last two frames after that amazing frame 17. I thought he would completely lose his touch, but he was still cueing well even after it, and it just shows how strong his mentality is!!
                  All the way Mark J!!
