  • Still no sponsor

I find it hard to believe that the sport's second most important tournament hasn't got a sponsor.

I hope they find one in the next couple of weeks.

The last time the event was without a sponsor was 2002.

I think 888.com is an "associate" sponsor of the UK. Maybe they'll become the main sponsor for this event.

I am disgusted that the UK hasn't got a sponsor. It starts on Monday and we've heard nothing from World Snooker.

They haven't got a sponsor. That's why we've heard nothing from them. Snooker is going down the tube it seems. Guess we have to get used to it.

The Gavpowell. that remembers me. Were you not having one of the lowest id numbers on the beeb board, which means you signed up as one of the first members over there?

ps. Welcome here! if you can do the chalk I will sponsor the refs' gloves!

I doubt it Soave, my user id was U701432

But I was there for a looong time - boxing and snooker. I'd have been there much earlier except I didn't realise the bbc forums were there for quite a while. I miss them terribly though

Sooo we've just about got the cahlk, we've more or less got the gloves. Now we just need some playrs, some tables, a venue, and a referee or two. Oh and some prizes! Perhaps we could have a whipround for prizes - a book token, a makeup voucher, dinner for two at mcdonalds - prizes raffle style.

The raffle reminds me of an interview with - I forget whether it was Jimmy's coach Alan Bell a few years ago, but I think it was Del Hill about Graeme Dott's final vs Ronnie in the WC.

Something like "Well I've said to him he';s a little tiger and I said if you don't buy a raffle ticket you aren't gonna win, and he'd done that, he's bought a raffle ticket and, well I've planted the seed and you know from little acorns...if you don't buy a raffle ticket you're not in the raffle, so....y'know..yeah"

I laughed and laughed and I just thought "No wonder Dott always looks so bemused!"
