It seems Melling might have to go back to 9-ball to earn his money.

At the moment I'm watching Roy Stolk vs. Ian Preece on live scoring - Stolk is only one frame behind, so could the unthinkable happen? Can he actually win?

Was it Melling who said "I'm not being funny but if Dott can be world champion....." ?

It seems things are'nt going quite as well for him as his arrogance would suggest...

You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

Yeah, that's some hefty scoring by the Trumpster, isn't it? 5 frame winning breaks in 9 frames. Niiiice.

Good to see Dene O'Kane get a win under his belt. Would it be ridiculous to suggest that he could actually qualify for the main draw?

commiserations to Roy Stolk losing 9-8 after trailing 8-5. Surely he is going to win a match soon.

What I would love to see is Stolk qualifying for the Crucible. Given the wretched season he is having, it would be good to end on a high.

You have to wonder though, how far he would have managed to get if every qualifying match was first to 9 rather than 5. His match against Preece would suggest he is more comfortable with this longer distance (or maybe Preece is one of the weaker players on Tour?)

Which of the new players do you think will survive for a second season? I think Tian Pengfei has definitely made it thanks to his NI Trophy run, probably Issara Kachaiwong and maybe Dermot McGlinchey?

I can't see Roy Stolk making the cut, also Lee Page, Mohammed Shehab and Chris Melling need to start winning soon

All he has to do is get through a further three qualifying rounds, beating mackenzie, Ford and Holt, before finally facing Dott in the last 32 !

"Ridiculous" wouldn't be the word I would use, "tough" might be more like it ?

Stranger things have happened - Mackenzie sems to be a jouneyman pro, Ford will be tough, but he is beatable, and if Holt lets frustration get the better of him then you never know...

So yes, it will be tough, but this is probably the best chance O'Kane will have all season. The Welsh Open is a minor tournament (as in standard ranking points), and I would be very surprised if he makes it to the Crucible.

Judd Trump has won 11 frames in a row so far after going 2-0 against David Roe - what is the record for this?
