  • 2nd Round Results

    So far, we've had a 9-1, 9-2, 9-3, 9-4

what are the chances that the 8 games will finish with 8 different scores?

I'm sure The Statman will be able to tell us how many times that's happened before....

Hadn't noticed the results like that before!

I wouldn't be surprised if it had never happened...
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

Now map the scores to the remaining matches. What's your best guess?

Well Hendry Williams could be the 9-8
Davis McManus could be close, and the other 2 that werer 5-3 overnight could be your 9-6 and your 9-5.

There is a remote chance it could happen I suppose... let's see

It's happened once or twice at the Crucible, though with eight best-of-25s that is obviously more likely.

I don;t have detailed figures on last-16 rounds, but I can tell you how often a ranking quarter-final line-up has resulted in the same scoreline for all (and, indeed, different scoreline for all, which for best-of-9s is rare).

                      Perry leading 8 - 6 Doherty

And hendry - williams is heading for a 9-7! (6-5 at the mo).

Steve being 4 all could go to a decider.

it stops now as Hendry wins with 9 - 6 as well.

2 frames out - Williams/Doherty and McManus win another frame each and we had it... never mind
