  • Best tournament in ages

This for me (so far) is one of the best tournaments I've seen in years, everyone is playing great snooker. Maybe they don't feel as pressured as at the crucible, but it's great to watch.

Higgins is playing great snooker, Dott and ebdon playing good attacking stuff, Ding and Stevens both playing well aswell O'Sullivan looks like he wants to win it, great tournament, hopefully it will continue!
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

I agree. I'm making full use of the highlights and Snooker Extra in the late evening. As luck would have it my mum recently bought me a litre of Jack Daniels for dog sitting which is going down well with the Snooker viewing.

All the top players in good shape at the same moment - every single match is of very high standard ; waiting for a 147 perhaps...
I saw that going differently in my mind

Not to undermine the players’ performances, but I think the tables are ‘easier’ too. I have seen some shots go in when normally they would stay out. Along-the-cushion type shots are definitely easier – a few players have said that. Obviously it’s just one of the contributing factors.

Yeah I was gonna say that. The tables differ too much from venue to venue at the minute.

But it is of course not only the tables. Dott, Perry, Doherty, O'Sullivan, Ding, Ebdon, Stevens, Higgins and McManus. All of these players are playing their best snooker so far this season. And we have Hendry, Williams and Davis still in it too.

been a really good tournament so far.

much prefer the longer matches. dont mind the short run ones though.

            some excellent snooker

as said, perhaps the pockets are playing easier (even though its a standard template). wonder if thats to do with the cloth they put on the cushions to try to eradicate the uneven bounces, as different cloths can have that effect.......

the length and width of the table are certainly fixed, but when they install the cushions, it's very difficult to judge the sizes of all the pockets, especially the corners ones, but if the top pockets are bigger, then middle pockets or bottoms pockets must be smaller.

Yeah its been a fantastic tournament so far and all 8 players left are playing well enough to win it.

Great to see Hendry playing well again and Steve Davis is showing once again what a fantastic competitor he is.

I couldnt pick a winner at the mo, just can't wait to be there at the weekend!
