Ronnie apparently went to Hendry's dressing room straight after the match and said 'good luck for the rest of the tournament, I've had enough', then left the building. We may never know what was going on in his head.

      • So a bad day and a unlucky reaction - but Ronnie will explain I guess.

          • This won't change my opinion how a fantastic player he is.

            • Ronnie really is not in the right state of mind - surprsing because he sounded so happy on a BBC interview in Aberdeen, and then whitewashed Jimmy in the Premier League Final... something must have happened that's affected him.

What seems the worst possible outcome here is that he might quit the game! - I certainly hope not.

              • Very depressing day,
I am just concerned if Ronnie would really quit snooker since today on.

A bit annoying that Mike Hallet keeps saying "disgrace, disgrace...", as no truth has been told to explain the accident

                  • He should have tried the trick with the towel first.

                      • Same here,

It would be sad if this was all a case of ego, as has been mentioned here many times for the last few years Hendry has been unable to beat Ronnie.

As soon as there is a match where Hendry looks like breaking the cycle, Ronnie concedes and thus was 'beaten' by Hendry on the table, unbeaten run theoretically can continue.

At least snooker will be on the back pages tomorrow

Manic depression works that way. Maybe he has neglected his medication??

                          • BBC has added a little more:

Ronnie O'Sullivan stunned the snooker world yet again on Thursday when he conceded his Maplin UK Championship quarter-final to Stephen Hendry.
The former world champion was trailing 4-1 when he dramatically handed victory to his opponent after missing a red.

Hendry was visibly stunned as O'Sullivan shook his hand and walked out of the Barbican Centre arena.

"He just said he had had enough," said Hendry, who was awarded a 9-1 win. "I had no inkling anything was wrong."

                              • think hendry would have won in the form hed shown.

not good for the spectators, and even if something was wrong with ronnie it wasnt the correct time to withdraw (mid frame etc...)

still, im not a fan of his, but i hope hes ok.

glad hendo is in the semi now, and deserved to be with his play and not just through ronnies withdrawl.

                                all the best to both
