  • Davis derailed after Ronnie's exit!

When it happened they lifted the divider while Steve was still playing. All spectators stumbled to go to the other side to take seats there. Davis had no clue what was happening and was quite off the rails after it all happened. He went from 2-2 to 5-3 down! I have not heard anyone on this issue. They should have waited to raise the divider when their frame was over!

More immediately, didn't he go from 2-2 to 3-2 up? I agree they should've stopped the audience moving into that side of the arena until the frame was over, but it didn't appear to change the game to me.

I think you've got to give Dott credit for this one. He got a bit of momentum and simply outplayed Steve

Yeah the divider definitely didn't come up until a couple of frames later...

I think after what happend yesterday, Dott's performance hasnt been credited. He played very well and his match with Hendry should be very interesting if they carry on their current form.

The world champion has been a revelation this week and even if he doesnt go home with the trophy, he's a definate contender for the rest of the season.

            agree with that k-t.

dotts form has been good all through the tournament, flowing quite quickly through his sessions and making some solid breaks too.

must quite like the longer match formats

Yet the match was actually disturbed mid-frame by the moving audience as you reported in the other thread.

I'm not saying Davis/Dott would have played much better without that but I think the organisators really should have withhold the O'Sullivan crowds from moving over until the frame was finished.
I haven't seen this part of the match but it looks quite disrespectful for a snooker audience.

Snooker crowds are crazy though, there's just no stopping their need for the baize.

It was off-putting seeing them all traipse through mid-frame, Steve should have sorted them out.
I think I made you up inside my head

What's the security personnel actually getting payed for? And who the funky heck is responsible for lifting the divider at mid-frame? (if I got that right, still haven't seen the first session footage)

They definitely didn't lift the divider mid-frame...in fact they didn't even lift it for the following frame where Dott got a big break (maybe a 100, can't remember).

But yes it wasn't on people traipsing over like that, though admittedly I was one of the guilty parties (albeit after about 50 others had gone before me). The security staff could have stepped in I suppose, but it was like a stampede of elephants and everybody was in a state of shock!

So, the fans (me included) were out of order BUT I don't think it had any effect because it was the same for both players.

You might haven't sensed any effect on the players as you were shocked and within a stamping crowd.
Thanks for clearing up the situation with the divider!
                        Security should have done something.
The crowd definitely should have been more respectful. Whatever Ronnie O'Sullivan does, had done and will do when he decides to walk in or out of some office.
