I'm sure I'll be able to think objectively about how well Hendry did in this tournament on the whole and what big improvement this was in comparison to last season, and also how brilliantly Ebdon played.
For the time being I'm just sad tho.

Just got back from York...I enjoyed it but it was something of an anticlimax after the Higgins-Ebdon semi on Friday.

I wanted Ebdon to win though because it meant so much to him and he'd never won it before, whereas Hendry has won it 5 times! And quite frankly, Hendry was terrible tonight and didn't deserve to win.

Also, criticising Ebdon for showing emotion and demonstrating good sportsmanship can only be construed as sour grapes I'm afraid! 1. the game needs players who wear their heart on their sleeve otherwise it's like watching robots. 2. being a good sportsman is a great example to the kids in the audience and watching TV, especially after Ronnie's childish sulk earlier in the week.

      Well done Ebdon!

Well done Peter Ebdon, not a classic final but he deserved it. I love the intensity that Ebdon brings to the game, the guy gives everything out there and it was good to see the great reception he got at the end, and it makes a change from the childish behaviour of O’Sullivan earlier in the week.

I was amazed to see Hendry lose his action earlier in the evening, it happens even to the greats!

Ebbo played very well all week beating ding, higgins and then hendry in the final.. its the best ive ever seen him play, especially his semifinal against higgi

It wasnt the best final tonight..both players made mistakes but ebdon made far less than hendry and was the deserved winner, so congrats to him!

Im happy for hendry tho, his form was a big improvement from how he has played at the start of this season, i just hope he can go on to win a title in the next few months, If he can get a tournament win under his belt he will gain more confidence, and he needs to clear those demons out of his head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He will return.

Good tournament and Ebdon was certainly a deserved winner.

Just a shame Hendo lost his touch last night.

                  Congratulate to Ebton!

As in fact I really do not care much who wins it at last, just nice to have enjoyed many high quality matches during the week.

Hendry and Ebdon both barely played better than a rank amateur in the second session, apart from Hendry's superb 116 break and some half decent safety play from both players. I turned it off at 8-6 and went to sleep.

                      Fantastic photos
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

It wasn't until the interview at the end that I spotted PaulTheSoave, right behind Hendry, at least I think it was him, blue and white shirt, Paul was it you???

I think I spotted him on some of Pete's photos too.....

                        • A funny moment came at the start when everybody was quiet...one of the 'bigwigs' came in late from the backstage area and took his place on the front row...but not before tripping up and getting clapped and laughed at by the entire Barbican crowd!!

The same thing happened just before the evening session when one of the officials was running up the stairs...he tripped and gasped "****" before making a hasty exit to much hilarity from the crowd!!

There was also the York 'character' who is there every year who spontaneously claps twice (he's known as the clapper), and is obviously some kind of stalker of Hazel Irvine! A real character although you wouldn't want to be sat behind/next to him! Also in the interval when there was a large queue for the toilets, he just barged his way to the front!

                          • Well done Peter - the best player in the world a.t.m. Hendry played well for most of the week but his performance last night was shocking. I have a feeling it may well be his final fling. His cueing looks stabby and jabby too often these days

Yes it was definitely Paul. I saw Kellie text during Saturdays match as well.
Obviously I'm gutted that Stephen played so badly last night - you wouldn't have thought it was the same man who was beating Ronnie 4-1! Anywa, I'm just pleased that he seems to be in much better form than the last few months and I hope he'll gain some confidence from it.
