So no financial conspiracy theories then. Just plain old practicalities like where is available at the time. You really would have thought they could do better than Telford though. No offence to any Telfordians on here, but what overseas visitors would want to go to Telford ? Come to think of it what UK residents would want to go there either.

Shame that The Guild Hall Preston wasnt possible as an alternative. Not that Preston is a Mecca for sightseers either but at least its a historic snooker venue with proper credentials.

Sure for the people who actually go there it's better to have something to do in the particular city apart from snooker, but I don't think that these have an impact on either sponsoring contracts or tourism, judging from the number of people you see in the venue during the matches. if top players, past or present, no matter how well liked arent producing the goods, then things shouldnt be changed to suit them. if they are, then therell be less new faces emerging because of it (i know weve had a few new ones in recent years, but maybe more if things like this werent happening)...
A few years ago Semih, when the formula was changed to the top 4 players being held back till the Saturday the rest of the top 16 should have complained then But the old answer of TV Bosses and sponsors wanting the top 4 at that stage was probably going to be the answer as at that time O'sullivan, Hendry etc were in it. Now However with a top 4 that does not include O'sullivan and Ding (and who's fault is that?) instead of sticking to their principles I will be most surprised if any of the top 4 asides from Higgin's gets put on a tv table. When I see the actual draw and format I may actually amend this remark though.
My point is and always has been to treat ALL players fairly, not when it suits them.

              i agree snooky

i want to see my favs on the tv tables

but if they aint played well and are slipping down the rankings then IMHO they dont deserve to be there all the time, as eventually the wont be everyones fav, as theyll have slipped so far out the rankings (with very few exceptions)

totally agree... although i would dearly love to see the likes of O'Sullivan, Williams, Hendry as they stand a chance of being knocked out of their first round matches, i believe in a fair chance to everyone... the right to a TV table is earned not taken for granted nor based on reputation or popularity.

Just wondering if anyone's received their tickets for the championship yet? I booked mine a few days after they came out and they haven't arrived so thought I'd check it was the case with everyone. thanks!

Do you know I was in York today and I walked past the Barbican Centre. It's massive. Judging by the amount of receipts the powers that be could generate it just seems that they are intent on selling the sport short AGAIN

Hi, how is the refurb going on? Tell them to keep it cheap otherwise the WSA cant afford it and we are all shipped off somewhere like Timboektoe!

God knows what is going to happen for the rest of the tournaments. Bet the players aren't too impressed with WSA lack of ambition
