well, Dominic out already, not much going there after China?
        Ian through without any trouble,
9-2 Ian McCulloch - Mark Joyce
8-6 Joe Swail - Robert Milkins
6-75-7 Gerard Greene - Ricky Walden (four in a row for Ricky now)
8-77-7 Mark Allen - Andrew Higginson
6-65-6 Nigel Bond - David Gilbert (bit of a comeback here)
7-56-5 Matthew Stevens - Adrian Gunnell (go Matthew)
8-4 Stuart Bingham - Fergal O'Brien (looks dire for Fergal)
3-9 Dominic Dale - Paul Davies

I guess a new thread about Stevens will soon be opened now
I saw that going differently in my mind

Yes, quite possibly. Personally I feel that a few of these players no longer put the same effort or practice in and they are getting what they deserve, i.e. bad results.
Stevens apparantly is more interested in poker than his snooker so its hardly surprising that he isn't getting results. Similarly Mark Williams put zero practice in for a year and a half and despite putting in the hours now his confidence is shot.

Just an update on Judd Trump, apparantly he too has fallen victim to other interests rather than his snooker. Regularly out clubbing and enjoying himself instead of being dedicated like Hendry, Davis etc. Its a shame because you don't get long at the top in snooker and if you have a talent you shouldn't let it go to waste. I guess though they're only human at the end of the day and some people make bad decisions and they live to regret them.

Why the same story repeated again and again!!

Anybody can place a safe bet on his matches now!

That is really dissapointing although from the interview at the worlds it looked like the above could happen.

This merely confirms why it has taken him so long to break through. he was a world champ to be, according to many, but it takes more than potting balls. I have rated Allen more.

good post PTS, but one that ive only been in agreement with in the last year.

ive been following Trumps progress for a few years, but so far the potential he had at a very young age isnt turning in to too many wins. steady progress, but not a shooting star IMHO. Allen on the other hand has been rated, but in the last year or so has shown that he has the ability to win matches against players playing well, and good players at that, and so at the present moment id say Mark, if he continues as the last year or 2, could be a member of the future top 4 for much longer than Trump (if they get there)....still think both are potential Worlds winners, taking in to account who won it a few years ago.....time will tell

Where is the info on Trump coming from ? Is it hearsay or reliable ?

I always found his family to be the sorts to keep him firmly grounded and I'm surprised at this if it's true...
