  • Unbelieveable that Murphy has a highest pot rate than Maguire. Maguire didn't seem to miss a ball in the first session.
I was thinking the same thing about the pot sucess rates. Weird...

8-4 at the interval. I must say Murphy is looking sharp, but I think he woke up too late to have a real chance. Nice with a bit of evening entertainment though, and at least a pretense of a fight. I was worried that there might be two quick Maguire-visits and then I'd be stuck watching Morse or something...

Maguire is looking shakey but that's natural since he's just one frame away. I want Murphy to win.

      • Yep, 8-5.

Is Maguire starting to get nervous here?

        • Two brilliant pots at the start of the fourteenth frame answers that question, I guess.

          • Maguire is not getting the run in the balls he was getting in the first session. He's broke down again here when he was looking in a good position. If Murphy takes this frame I think Maguire may start to get really edgy.

            • If Maguire wins this frame he's officially Stephen "Dolly Parton" Maguire.
              Working 9 to 5 (Swail), 9 to 5 (McCulloch), 9 to 5 (Williams)... Murphy?

              • Yeah, when Maguire is playing badly he really plays bad. Does anyone remember the amount of balls he missed during his match with Ronnie in the Grand Prix [I think it was GP].

                • If you have a big lead, you tend to lose concentration and as it seems now, its all over. finishing off with a ton. when he came nearer he just stepped up one gear again.

                    • All in all this was a pretty good performance by Maguire. He upped his game from the Williams match very nicely.

                      • yeah, but good enough to take out Ronnie at the moment?

That all depends on what side of the bed Ronnie wakes up on. If he's playing his best, I think Ronnie will get the better of Maguire, simply because Maguire has a tendency to get the jitters and Ronnie doesn't, but Ronnie might just as well not really turn up (and this goes for tomorrows semifinal as well) and in that case he'll lose. Part of what makes Ronnie so interesting, I guess.

I hope and believe that Ronnie will be 'up for' and interested in playing Selby - so theres a good chance he'll be on form for that one. Then if he wins that one, i think he he has a high opinion of Maguire, so he could play well there too. If any of this guess work is true it could be bad news for his opponents but good news for his fans.

                            • Stephen Maguire is such a perfectionist, this was a kind of snooker i like. There is so much Stephen Hendries influence in his game.

                              • Stephen Maguire is the new provisional number 1 unless Ronnie wins tomorrow. If it is a Ronnie v Stephen final then the winner takes number 1 and the loser takes number 2.
