indeed Wim. my comment was made a couple of frames B4 the end, and up until then it was a good match, but not amazing standard.
how someone playing a 147 AFTER that can make my comment about the previous play "invalid" is beyond me

'average' by Ronnie's standards perhaps - i thought he played a solid performance and although not at his best, he looked more dangerous as the match went on.
When Mark Selby missed that red at the start of that frame, he was unlucky that it went right over the corner with a perfect angle to go in the pack. I thought at the time if he got a good split on that shot, Ronnie would win the frame and match, but to polish off with a 147 is awesome stuff.

Jeeze, Ronnie's performance was no where near average Ronnie. It was more like below average Ronnie. Eitherway, it shows just how great he is, especially to beat Selby in that poor form. Ronnie had his key moments, especially displaying his wonderful cue power. I feel as if he should practice more on long potting. He seemed awesome at them when he faced Cope the other day.

This was an extraordinary match! Especially the human aspect of it.
Ronnie did play well, but not at his best. BUT it was an outstanding performance, the way he beat his toughest opponent: himself, the negative, self-destrucive self. I must confess that, when he took that long pause, after the foul on the yellow, I was bugged by doubt: will he come back? He did come back. And at 5-7, when he looked drained, concentrating absurdly on this spoon, I thought: here he's cracking, he's giving up. Not so. He came back at the table to win the next three and put himself in the lead for the first time in this match. And then the decider of course ...
Mark was equally remarkable. He did play very well, had the upper-hand on the match almost to the end. And was a display in sportsmanship all along. When he applauded his opponent after that long pause. When he kept smiling during that final 147. It must have been extremely difficult and he was absolutely gracious.
These are the moments I love most in snooker ... when the two at the table show the best of themself, their best game and their best self.
All praise guys! Thank you for that.Last edited by Monique; 16 December 2007, 07:55 AM.Proud winner of the 2008 Bahrain Championship Lucky Dip

Ta for the article Ekphantos!
"I felt the butterflies which was nice.
Fantastic match . I kinda agree Semih when he said the standard wasnt to high , Ronnie didn't play at his best this match , imo his long pots and the control of the white were better in the match with Cope . But i m glad he did his best to control his nerves and stay focused - to the organisers : guys , make sure he always has a spoon there just in case - and the way he closed the match was amazing . The decider was breathtaking , i remember i first breath when the 10th red went in , meaning he won the match ..then the nail biting started for the max. No nails left but at least everything was for a honorable cause !
Way to go Ronnie..thanks for that! Well done to Selbs ..he made a good match !
