Thanks for the link Alex. A little more insight to the way Murphy feels as well as Ronnie and Maguire.

I can see Murphy's point of view:

“We’re not here to make friends, we’re here to win tournaments.

“This isn’t a team sport and there’s a lot of money at stake. Yes, I speak my mind. There’s no need for messing around and double-talk.

“If everyone else said what they thought, it would be better.”

but then again you don't need to be best pals with everyone, and who says speaking your mind should mean pushing people away? Being a generous winner and a graceful loser shows strength of character imo.

On a different note, it's wonderful to see Ronnie in a good mood and ready for what will probably be fantastic matches.

Hmmm..yo right! I bet he'd be the first one criticizing if ROS for ex, would say what he things or act how he feels... I really doubt he'd feel so comfortable to hear what others think, to answer NIna's Q i do think that speaking your mind could push ppl away unless you put a drop of diplomacy in it , brutal honesty hurts and i doubt Murphy would be an exception.
As for the “We’re not here to make friends, we’re here to win tournaments." comment ..tis kinda superficial imo. None said they go there to make friends but to be nice and friendly shouldnt cost him a huge effort. ..Competing for trophies doesnt exclude the possibility of making some pals in the circuit . But i guess tis just the way he is , cant make himself likable to ppl...

The great news is Ronnie feels a part of this tournament ...whoa ..so happy to hear. He made a great match yday ,a "one man show"...pity Cope didnt manage to fight back...and also pity for missing that 147. But he's havin the right attitude there ,so it seems...so there is a great semifinal ahead ag. Selby and hopefully a great final..ag. Magsy .
