  • You cant help but think Davis badly needs this 8th frame to keep in touch with Ding, otherwise Ding may run away with the match.

I agree that Davis needs to stay in touch. His potting has been good along with his tactical nous.

Although I have to admit that I think Ding looks like a spent force (and yes I know he is so young, but his confidence has gone), but Davis has tended to struggle against the prolific players and if he coul pull this out of the bag I'd be surprised and also I would think it would be one of Davis's best wins in the last 10 years.

      • As well as Ding has looked when amongst the balls there are other times when he looks vulnerable. I wouldn't be at all Surprised if Steve Davis beats Ding but when his given a chance he's got take it and take it in convincingly to put some self doubt in Ding's mind.

          • Past midnight (here) and still 2+ tiny bit frames to play in the Carter vs. McCulloch match. I will wait for the result of the sixth frame and then call it night.
Robbo's potting is so good he doesn't need to bother with positional play like the rest of the players. He laughs in the face of those who spend hours on the practice table perfecting their cue ball control! ~ Forman

He has been lucky to get Gould as most of the other qualifiers would be winning this 4-1, 3-2 at least.

He split from his wife claire a couple of months ago. Hopefully theyll get back together and it doesnt affect his game.

              • I only saw the last 5 frames of Davis - Ding. I found it very entertaining, and Davis was potting some remarkable long pots, but still Ding was breakbuilding very well, so I still hold him as a favourite today.

                • At 3-1 down, Ding already had "defeat" all written on his face. Terrible attitude.

He should really see a sports phsychologist if he haven't done so.

Well, the mid-session interval seemed to have helped him, so maybe he actually has help.

Screw that. We should be allowed to choose which matches to watch. What are the license fees for? The other two matches could easily provide better entertainment. Ronnie never plays well in the second round and against a player like Perry, he'll just do enough. King v Lee is going to be a real fight out there

                          • I think the BBC have got it just about right Boss with their selected match coverage but I agree it would be nice to see whatever match you wanted. Hopefully my favourites ronnie and king can come out of tonights sessions at least 5-3

                            • Is it likely to be an advantage or disadvantage for Joe Perry when playing Ronnie tonight with not having played his first round match?

                              • Fu vs Stevens would be my choice, but, Ronnie vs Pery will be a good match to watc as well.
