i suffer from depression. I'm unipolar.
its not something i would ever criticise anyone for or trivialise in any way.
if Ronnie's many misdemeanors are all caused by his illness then fair enough. i don't honestly believe it is though, it certainly wasn't the case today.
What i believe is that, for a player already fustrated by his "under acheivement" which IS largely down to his illness, it becomes much more difficult for him to except it when he is being outplayed, especially by a player of perrys decent but not world class standard. this causes mood swings and immature behaviour.
speaking from experience, sufferers of depression can at times, tend to act selfishley and withuot concern for the repercussions ther actions might cause.
People like Marcus Trescothick, however, tend to understand the importance of their role and impact on the people who put them in their privaledged position in the first place and do the right thing.
people like ronnie, unfortunately, seem to thrive off the drama, thus trivialising their illness themselves.
Ronnie O'sullian is the most talented player to ever play the game but at times he does more damage to it then good and whats more he is not doing himself any favours either.Fantasy Game Overall Winner 09/10 - World Championship 2009 Fantasy Game Winner - Seasonlong Prediction Contest Overall Winner 09/10 - Seasonlong Prediction Contest Runner-Up 08/09 - UK Championship 2010 Prediction Contest Winner - Rileys @ Chorlton Pool Team Merit Winner 07/08, 09/10:snooker:

hey steedee i too, as i have mentioned in previous posts, suffer from depression although a milder form. However, some people, who dont suffer from it, do not understand how it works in the mindset. Similar to Ronnie, anything I do will NEVER be enough or good enough but I have learned (and are learning) to accept this.Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

I pasted the quotation over here.
Yes, I googled it. Ronnie's not the only one to have done it. Surely, he did it before: Malta 2005, against Dott. But definitely not the only one.
And another example, an older one:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/more-s...5875-16605886/
Lee, who won 6-5 after leading 5-2, was warned for conceding a frame,
Third example:
http://www.betfinder.co.uk/articles/...07-players.asp
Michael Holt
Michael is also infamous for conceding the deciding frame (while level at 4-4) in a China Open match in 2005 against Joe Perry, while there were still 13 reds left available to pot.
Fourth and last one, even fresher:
http://prosnookerblog.com/2008/12/02...ip-qualifiers/
Towards the end of the session he [Declan Hughes] let his frustration get the better of him as he conceded frame 10 with several reds left on the table, immediately apologising to Goggins. He then just released his anger at the start of the next by smashing into the reds from the break-off, simply could not wait to get out of there.
And this...Conceding a frame at 23-0 is nothing to do with 'depression'
It's everything to do with petulance (even worldsnooker.com says this)
Professional sportsmen should be able to cope when things are against them
No mention of "illness", "depression", "mental state" whatsoever.
So why bring it up? I don't mean you, I mean it generally. Someone please explain it to me, since I can't for the life of me understand it and I've been trying to for quite a while now.
It goes like this:
Ronnie loses a match.
In addition he does something more or less uncalled for.
People say: "His fans will definitely blame this on his depression."
His fans don't. The real ones don't, anyway.
Heated arguments begin.
etc. etc. etc.
The day Ronnie admits to having been defeated on account of health problems will be the day mittens will be needed in hell.Last edited by Black_cat; 17 December 2008, 02:48 AM.S.P.I.L.F.

I didn´t know Carter conceded a frame as well.
Here´s Ronnie´s reaction taken from today´s sun:
The world champ and world No 1 did not regret his actions and said: “I’m just going to get a little £250 fine and a disciplinary letter through the post, so I don’t care.
“I’ve had a few of them before — and I’m sure I’ll get a few more of them in the future. I was just happy to get out and have a cup of tea.”ALI FOR WORLD CHAMP 2012

I think it is like a pattern for Ronnie. From time to time he does something wrong and i think he does it because he needs attention. Last night Perry played better and Ronnie needed to do something to draw attention towards him....and he conceded a frame.
He does this things and the only people who care about it are the viewers...he doesnt care...we are.
I think im getting use to it and im starting to not care anymore about what this spoiled brat does. So i will not criticise him anymore because it is not worth it......"There has only ever been Alex Higgins, myself and now Ronnie O'sullivan who play the game the way it should be played with such excitement - I know the fans love it this way" - Jimmy White
