Fu is one of the most solid players in the game today - if you give him a clearance chance or frame winning chance, he will not miss easy pots and will clear using good touch snooker.
He's a good breakbuilder, and although others may appear more proficient, on these tables and conditions it is far easier to appear to be a good break builder than 20 years ago. Although he is yet to push into the top 8 in this era, Fu for me is a player who would be have been a top 8 player is most eras due to his all round game, under pressure and tactical game. Well done and I hope he goes on to win it.
Classic Carter bottling it at 40 - 0 and all chances of taking the match to a decider. I wonder if he´ll ever win a tournament.
I agree with all of that. Carter just isn't a great player in my opinion, as he misses too many easy balls and hasn't got a great percentage game. He may well win a tournament although I wouldn't back it.
Looking at the current low standards i.e. the top 16 opposition, the game is open for lots of players - Hendry still in the top 16, Davis pushing to get back in, Higgins winning a tournament and getting to quarters here despite being a pale shadow of his former self, Murphy looking ropey and many of the players coming through have just breakbuilding and long potting as their game, but don't have consistency and miss some easy ones, or have a very poor safety game.

i agree carter just doesnt have what it takes when it comes to the crunch to win ranking titles
i think he will always be a nearly man
he did well to reach the world finla but i just get the feeling he willalways come up short in the big matches just like today
Robbo Unbeatable in ranking finals 6 out of 6
COME ON ROBBO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carter doesn't have that experience of lifting a ranking title. If he did win the World Champion or some other ranking title, he surely would have made it to a decider, I feel. Thank you to everyone with great words of encouragment!
Impressive display from Fu this evening and was always in control! He has one of the best temperament's in the game and never looks like when missing when he's in close! Good luck to Marco for the final, and going on tonight's performance he will take some beating!
"Statistics won't tell you much about me. I play for love, not records."

I only hope the UK title is Marco's
Also, the thing about Marco, is that he does up his game when he needs to.
Some very good breaks from Fu tonight. That break in the decider was magnificent. Joe Johnson on Eurosport said that it was going to be difficult to win the frame at that visit, or words to that effect. He also played some good safety at the business end of the match.
Congratulations also to Carter, for making it a good match.
Now let's see how Maguire and Murphy will play, before making any predictions for the final.
Fu was 55-1 at the beginning of the tournament. Compared to Ding's 13-1, it was ridiculously good odds. So I put a small bet on him. Come on, Marco!!!
Where did you get 55-1?!? I put £2.50 on him at 33s and young Mark Allen at 25s (I think Allen's odds should actually be higher than 25s given he has only reached two semis) - The bookies got that stunningly out giving out 55s to a player like Fu. I'd have him as a bigger favourite than Ding.

It was on betfair. I thought it was ridiculous at the time. That's why I made a small bet - I am not normally a betting man myself.
Fu has really impressed me in this tournament and shows the form that won him the Grand Prix last season.
