  • Tickets for sale today.

Anybody buying tickets for this? I have brought tickets to the first round of the tournament for the past three years, but was determined not to this year as I was against the match length shortening at the second most prestigious tournament of the year. I am however waivering, as I do love watching live snooker and will probably book the week off work to watch this anyway.

    What do other people think?

It's okay. No probs. It can be kind of confusing if you're just reading it from the new posts forum.

Agreed! We keep hearing this is the second most important tournament on the calendar so it should stay at best of 17 at least from the last 32 onwards.

Unfortunately, I won't be there because I am only able to attend the Wembley Masters these days, can't wait for that.

I got to the Masters every year at some point, as I can commute to London. So will be at some of the matches for that. I did e-mail World Snooker, and said I wasn't happy these matches had been shortened, and wouldn't be buying tickets this year. (Making a point of mentioning I had visited Telford the last three years.) So I should really stick to that.

My worry is Hearn promised not to touch the majors. With all the brilliant work he has done over the past year or so, it will be undone if he in any way alters the World Championships. So I feel obliged to register my dissatisfaction that the matches have been shortened at the UK, even if it's for the well-meaning plan of getting every match on television.

I've booked the week off work. I won't relent by going to York to watch it. Just sit and watch it in my pyjamas.

Well i think watching it in yer jimmy jams is a cop out, get down there and support yer sport. York is a beautiful lovely city, Telford is a dump in comparrison.

I can almost smell those shops ...I'm taking my man treating him to as much snooker and beer as is possible, then dragging him around to do my Christmas shopping. Kerrrrrching

                    Happy days

Trust me, I spend enough of my money watching snooker live. I have the week off the Masters and am seeing Ronnie vs Ding, Higgins vs Stevens, Murphy vs Gould and Robertson vs Allen live in the arena. Also I have recently brought tickets to four first round matches at The Crucible.

Agreed though Telford is pretty rubbish, on having been there several times for the UK. But, if you go to see the snooker and not to the city, then it don't matter too much.

Besides, when they shortened the matches, I e-mailed World Snooker saying that though I'd visited the event for the past three years, I was against match shortening and wouldn't be paying to see the UKs this year.
