Amazing finish, but at the same time devastating. O'Sullivan was 67 behind with 67 remaining. An AMAZING shot gave him a chance. He potted two reds, two blacks + had a perfect cannon. He couldn't have placed the balls any nicer to clear up. Ronnie potted the red....and got a kick!

Extremely tough black, it rattled the pocket but stayed out. So unlucky O'Sullivan.

Amazing match, both players had some amazing breaks, great shots + glaring misses. The only thing that seperated them was Trump had that bit of luck when he needed it, whilst O'Sullivan had the exact opposite. Best match of the tournament so far by miles.

Happy for Trump, gutted for ROS. Atleast he's gained a few points from last year I suppose. I hope Trump goes and win the thing now. It will be good for snooker to see a Trump vs Williams final IMO.

They couldn't care less about snooker, this is the truth.
I thought it was a ****take to be honest. If a final frame decider with Ronnie O'Sullivan + Top Trump has to be bumbed off for a crappy cooking programme then snooker has no chance. I hope the BBC get slammed for this.

I noticed that for the first few days the BBC called it "Masters Snooker" on the red button (well channel 301 on freeview). Idiots.

I dont know what people get out of the bbc anyway,if you've subscribed to the streaming and the stream is good you only need the likes of Parrott and Davis if your a special needs case, same with Persad.Ok Virgo poo's on Hendon but you can always mute Eurosport, plus its streamed on the beeb website anyway.

Wasn't that bold to be fair

Looks like these two can face eachother in the 1/4's of the Masters next month assuming Ronnie can beat Ding + Trump beats Bingham.

I do feel sorry for Ronnie tbh. Had a tough 12 months, got his head sorted out, starting playing at a decent level (and more importantly an acceptable level for him). Then he loses here in the way he did. I guess no matter how you look at it every sport has a level of luck involved. At the Masters it might go the other way.

I realise Ronnie hasn't exactly helped himself with the rankings over year or so in major tournaments, but I find it very odd that the current number 1 and 2 in the PTC rankings just met in the second round of a tournament. According to the World Snooker website, Mark Williams is ranked 95th in the PTC list, but is still world number 2! I don't see the point in having these tournaments if they don't contribute significantly to the world rankings. The rankings should be weighted toward the big events, but for me, you can't have a situation where the two form players in the world are meeting in the last sixteen. It shouldn't happen, and it wouldn't be allowed to happen in tennis, for example.

To be fair Williams made the final of the UK last year, semi's of the WC, won the German Masters + final of the Aussie tournament. He's got a lot of points to defend over the next few months.

I don't have a problem with that, but I follow tennis quite a bit as well, and if you win titles on the ATP tour then it will be reflected in your ranking. Both Trump and O' Sullivan have won two PTC events and made one final, yet this doesn't seem to be reflected in the rankings, in fact, they were talking on the TV about Ronnie dropping out of the top sixteen in the world, yet he was the bookmaker's favourite to win the tournament! This doesn't seem right to me, and I think the PTC events must count for more in the world rankings, otherwise what is the point in winning them?

How is ROS one of the 2 form players in the World when he hasnt won a ranking tournament in 27 months I believe?

Trump isnt one of the 2 form players in the World either.

But the "ranking tournaments" don't come around very often. This is the whole point. The PTC events should carry at least some weight in the rankings, or else why do they exist? Imagine a situation where O' Sullivan, who has been in three finals this year, won the Premier League, played a final against Trump in Belgium described by the TV commentators as one of the best matches they'd ever seen, was the bookmaker's favourite to win the UK, yet he could have dropped out of the top sixteen and had to qualify for future TV tournaments. This can't be allowed to happen, and as I say, it wouldn't happen in tennis.

PTC's are probably the only reason why ROS is still in the top 16 though. In the 2010 UK he went out in the first round, he made the 1/4 of the WC (same as the year before), he went out in the first round of the Welsh Open, didn't enter the German Masters, I don't think he played in the Shanghai or China tournaments either.

                                Anyway Ronnie has just said:

'I thought I applied myself today, I feel in a good place and I don't want to take the shine off Judd but I seriously can't see me having much longer playing,'
'Even though I'm in a good frame of mind, I don't want to feel how I feel when I play. My game is not up to scratch, where I would like it to be or where it used to be. It's not even playing, it's how I feel in between matches and tournaments. It leaves me feeling quite nervy and anxious and I feel like I've had enough of the anxious moments.

'Having those emotions going round in general, I find quite difficult. I feel really well, the best I have ever done, I just feel some times the truth needs to be told. I've given it a really good go, but how long? I don't know.

'I'd like to settle down and do some other things and not have the anxious moments and thoughts that have plagued me,'

'I will probably try and tough it out for a little bit. Everybody knows I've been seeing Dr Steve Peters and he'll kill me for saying this and opening up like this.

'I will talk to him and I think for my own piece of mind, my own life, there is life beyond snooker. I still want to work and I'm sure I'll find stuff to do but I want to share my life with someone. I don't want to be living on my own, I don't want to travel around the world on my own feeling anxious, carrying these emotions.

'To be the real Ronnie, I need to get away from what's causing the problem.'
